Dried fruit will be more intense, so I'd start with ones you think you'll like....Most of them like mango I have not even tried in their normal form....
Apples, peaches, apricots taste pretty much the same. They can be softer if treated (I don't remember with what), or a bit more leathery if natural.
Tropical fruits tend to have sugar added -- pineapple, banana, mango, papaya, etc., taste similar but sweeter.
Cranberries are almost always sweetened. I've seen them in the regular grocery store with artificial sweeteners!
Dehydrated fruit, like berries, are crunchy and delicious, but expensive.
Dates and figs tend to be in natural form and remain sort of soft, not leathery. Figs are especially nutritious and a favorite of mine because I can find reasonably priced organic ones at Costco (and I like the flavor). I'd also buy fresh figs if they were more readily available. Dates are very sweet and often used to sweeten natural snack bars.
I like them all, but try to get unsweetened and organic.
