Best Email Service Providers?

google mail.....used to have yahoo and its awful.

Yahoo would put the spam mail in my inbox and by good mail in my spam box - on a regular basis.

gmail is very good - rarely any spam and everything goes where it should

I used INBOX.com at home and GMAIL at work

And that's my issue with Thunderbird too, although to a much lesser degree.
You won't know till you try it. It looks and feels a lot like Outlook Express. I've been using it for months and haven't had any problems with it.

Another web-based email site you might want to try is http://mail2world.com/

I've been considering gmail, but, frankly, I really don't want to give google that much control over my privacy.

Unfortunately, I am not aware of alternatives.

Your issue with thunderbird is privacy? You are confusing two things here. Thundbird is an e-mail program, not an e-mail service. there are no privacy issues with thunderbird.

gMail, if you don't care much about privacy paranoia.

I'm using http://fastmail.fm for my private address, though it's not the best.

I was just wondering that

Email client and email service are 2 different things.

If you are concerned about privacy, why not buy your own domain and have it hosted somewhere? Then you can have yourname@yourdomain.com. But frankly, Google have better things to do than read through your emails...

Google mail, i converted from Hotmail, and i've never looked back. i can't really see google reading your emails.... not yet anyway

Gmail is great and your privacy can be compromised where ever

i think international email such as hotmail, gmail, yahoo ... etc is much better than your local email provided by ISP.

you can't keep your loacal email if you stop using their service.

I use Hotmail.. Never had an issue with it. ..|

Sometimes, I play around with my Gmail account, but I don't open it very often.

gmail all the way here

accessed as an IMap server using thunderbird

if you use google calendar as your default calendar, then use a little tool called goosync gmail becomes your default store for everything

I have got goosync set to synchronise my calendar and contacts between google and my windows mobile phone - so I always have a backup if anything goes wrong :)
