Best Place in the United States to live?

I've lived in Honolulu and Los Angeles, and would choose either of them, but if you require affordability, forget those two.

I've also lived in Seattle, and I'm now in Portland. I'd recommend either, with Portland getting the edge for being more affordable, and being a place where you could live car-free, if you wanted.

Oh, if your income is high, maybe Seattle would be better, since Washington state doesn't have an income tax. And if your income is low, I'd say Portland, since Oregon doesn't have a sales tax.

No other place in the country compares to these four cities. Not too much heat, little or no snow, no summer humidity, cool people.

Denver Colorado is the best place to be.

Denver is that good, huh? I had no idea. Isn't it real expensive? A friend of mine said he got offered a job there making $28,000, but he was saying that is not enough to live on there. Here that is enough to live on. I have wanted to visit there for so long, but haven't had the chance to, but i will soon...

Get used to it ... almost every place that's good to live is expensive to live.

Warm weather ... at a premium, and so it's expensive.

Good economy ... well, then everyone's making money, with expensive living a result.

Gay Friendly ... assumptions of discretionary income, and expensive is next on the menu.

I disagree. There are gay-friendly places in the south that aren't super-expensive and some cities in the midwest, like Columbus, Ohio, are not that expensive and gay-friendly. Not everyone can afford Cali, unless they have a roommate or two jobs

Can I ask why you enjoy living in Orlando so much? I just moved here for college this last year and I have to say that I really am not enjoying it. There is no culture, nothing beautiful, nothing unique. From my point of view it is a tourist trap with five million strip malls and chain restaurants. Am I missing something? I really want to like this place. Have I just not explored this area enough? Since you say you like it so much, I would really like to know what I am missing. Or maybe I just clash with this city.

Tusk, I work with someone who is from Orlando, and they say they loved growing up there and there is so much to do there. You should probably give yourself more time to get used to the area. Besides, what is wrong with chain restaurants? Seems like there are alot of those everywhere

Just make more money so you don't have to worry about things being inexpensive. :)

It is hard for some people to make more money cause they don't have the right skills or education, but i guess if you really want to live somewhere that's expensive , you have to find a way to make it work for you . Usually in expensive areas there are better paying jobs so that people can afford to live there
