Best Song Ever Written?

Not that I've even come close to hearing every song, but my favorite all time is Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers.

There are very few songs in this thread that I can even stand to hear.

most of you people really have shitty taste in music, and that's from someone who likes Death Metal.

Although Open Arms IS a very good song.
 
A few years ago, some friends and I debated this very topic. We couldn't come to any agreement, because our tastes were all so different.

However, we had NO trouble picking the WORST song of all time. John Lennon's plodding , juvenile , pretentious "Imagine"...quite simply THE worst.

Imagine still brings tears to my eyes.

Imagine all the people, who can't appreciate a timeless classic that has stood the test of time.

Oh I do think it's a great sappy rock tune. So are many of the songs here. But I'd never consider it to be a "best song ever" contender. It's up there with "Waiting for a girl like you" by Foreigner or "Out In The Cold" by Judas Priest.. fun arena bic lighter anthem.
