from your list, strangers in the night
more recently, its hard out here for a pimp

I picked "Somewhere (sic) Over The Rainbow." "The Way We Were" would be 2nd, "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing", 3rd, and "Moon River", 4th.

The opening bars of Moon River get me everytime...

Much more so considering that one scene from Angels in America.

My all-time favorite song is Moon River and it's placed perfectly within the movie. Of all the versions done over the years, I like Andy Williams' rendition best.

Good Poll.

"Die Another Day" by Madonna.

Pretty cool video, too:

That, and pretty much anything else by Madonna, who's recorded a number of songs specifically for movies:

"Crazy For You" and "Gambler" from "Vision Quest"

"Into The Groove" from "Desperately Seeking Susan"

"Live To Tell" from "At Close Range"

"Who's That Girl" and "Causing A Commotion" from "Who's That Girl"

"Sooner Or Later" from "Dick Tracy" (which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 1991 Oscars)

"This Used To Be My Playground" from "A League Of Their Own"

"I'll Remember" from "With Honors"

The entire "Evita" soundtrack (again, the song "You Must Love Me" won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 1997 Oscars)

"Beautiful Stranger" from "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me"

"American Pie" and "Time Stood Still" from "The Next Best Thing."

Most recently, the song "Jump" from Madonna's "Confessions" album, though not recorded specifically for a movie, was featured prominently in "The Devil Wears Prada."

Did I leave any out???

Thanks for that list, DryIce.

I can't believe I forgot about "Crazy For You" and "Live To Tell" being for movies. Both of those are favorites of mine.

Autechre - Kalpol Intro

For Pi - The Movie.

I honestly loved that part of the movie...

*hides*

It's great when a song actually "fits in" to a movie, instead of just being there to bring in kiddies. Hearing "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" instantly brings me back to Paul Newman riding his bike with Katharine Ross on the handlebars. And "Windmills Of Your Mind" immediately brings back the Chess Game with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway.

the best song for movie is Time of My Life from Dirty Dancing!!!

Three Coins in the Fountain from "Three Coins in the Fountain"

Secret Love from "Calamity Jane"

"The Sound Of Music"
"Beauty and the Beast"
"The Wizard of Oz" - Somewhere Over The Rainbow
"Goldfinger"
"Shaft"
"The Way We Were"

"The Sound Of Music"
"Beauty and the Beast"
"The Wizard of Oz" - Somewhere Over The Rainbow
"Goldfinger"
"Shaft"
"The Way We Were"

Actually, The Sound Of Music wouldn't qualify, since it was written for the musical on Broadway before it became a movie.

But I agree with your choice of

Beauty and the Beast

and The Way We Were

"Is It Okay If I Call You Mine"-- Fame

This is the song gay Monty sings about straight best friend Ralph.
