gay forum, no mention of xanadu?
how could i have forgotten?

"Suicide Is Painless," MASH (Best video I could find...)

"Lose Yourself," 8 Mile

"Streets of Philadelphia," Philadelphia

"Mrs. Robinson," The Graduate" (the entire soundtrack, really)

Good to see "Lose Yourself" get a mention.

"The Fall of Troy" written for the film Dead Man Walking by Tom Waits.

"Things Have Changed" from the under-rated movie Wonder Boys, written and performed by Bob Dylan. Hell, you could add "Knocking on Heaven's Door" too.

Bruce - Phila.
Any 007 film.
Ice Cube - Friday.

(Plus the ones Sinfulsimon mentioned).

That, and pretty much anything else by Madonna, who's recorded a number of songs specifically for movies:

"Crazy For You" and "Gambler" from "Vision Quest"

"Into The Groove" from "Desperately Seeking Susan"

"Live To Tell" from "At Close Range"

"Who's That Girl" and "Causing A Commotion" from "Who's That Girl"

"Sooner Or Later" from "Dick Tracy" (which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 1991 Oscars)

"This Used To Be My Playground" from "A League Of Their Own"

"I'll Remember" from "With Honors"

The entire "Evita" soundtrack (again, the song "You Must Love Me" won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 1997 Oscars)

"Beautiful Stranger" from "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me"

"American Pie" and "Time Stood Still" from "The Next Best Thing."

Most recently, the song "Jump" from Madonna's "Confessions" album, though not recorded specifically for a movie, was featured prominently in "The Devil Wears Prada."

Did I leave any out???

THE LOOK OF LOVE from Who's That Girl soundtrack. It was not released in America as a single, but it was a Top 10 hit in UK. So, it's worthy of a mention. ;)

I'm surprised that no one mentioned "Into the West" by Annie Lennox, for The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. It's such a poignant, haunting close for the trilogy, and I always get misty hearing the audio commentary on how it came to be written. It was inspired by a brilliant teen film maker named Cameron, and first performed at his funeral after he lost his battle with cancer.

I'm just glad we weren't a streotypical group of gays who overwhelmingly picked Over The Rainbow... oh wait we did lol

To be honest I have no idea there are far too many disney always has really good music for it's animated films. And it's hard to decide if I should choose songs I like best or songs that compliments a film or character well... probably something that's both
