Okay, I just recently got back from a three week trip to India during which I took hundreds of pics and my friends from around the country keep asking to see the pictures, but rather than posting them on something like flickr, I actually wanted to create a webpage. I'm a novice when it comes to starting up a webpage so really have no clue where to even start.

Basically, all I'm looking to do is to set up my pictures, perhaps as a clickable slideshow, have captions underneath, with some of the slides being just text that I write, have the option to play music along with the slides, an interesting background, and to have all of this accessible only to people whom I give out a password to. Does this seem like it would be something that would be difficult for someone with zero web-designing experience to do, and how long do you think this would take to do and which program/method would be the best way to do so? Someone brough up Picasa from Google to me in the past.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

i heard google give free site to publish things.

join gmail and see for yourself. Google Sites

Many internet service providers supply free web sites for just such things. I have RoadRunner(Time Warner) and they supply free hosting and also have tools to build and upload a web page.

I have Time Warner Roadrunner as well. I'll have to check that out.

Why not just set up a blog thats open to invited readers only???
Works for me. How do I go about doing that?

+1

Though even if you don't like it, personally I'd rather use something like Flickr or Picasa for this task, with the pics set to private.

Get a blog from blogger.com. If you have a google account already, then you won't have to sign up.

Don't buy a mac. Download Picassa, edit, touch up, and put your pictures and video into a movie through Picassa. Upload to your google account.

All for free. I forgot, you can upload from Picassa straight into Blogger.
