Best & Worst Movies Of The Last Decade

that's an interesting list!

for me personally my favorite movies were almost all genre films (big shock). films such as the whole lord of the rings trilogy, wall-e, the dark knight and up come immediately to mind.

Um. No. The best and worst movie of the decade:

KVC: Komodo vs. Cobra:

Too many favorites to list, but the worst?

The Strangers,
Stardust (horrible adaptation)

I'm sure there are more I can rail on, but I'm tired of hating stuff tonight, and they may have been soooo bad I mentally blocked them from my reality...

To go looking for them would be counterproductive, no?

Best
Almost Famous
Gran Torino
Brokeback Mountain
Once
Milk
Dark Knight
No Country for Old Men
Departed
Borat
Slumdog Millionaire
City of God

Worst
Semi-pro
Epic movie and any Pauly Shore movie

Some of the best....

:corn:

Lord of the Rings trilogy
Star Trek: Nemesis (not the current movie)
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Crank
300
Beowulf
Watchmen

..|

As for the worst, well, I wouldn't watch them, would I?

Any number of mindless American 'comedies', even worse if they're 'romantic' ones. I avoid them like the plague.

:##:

EDIT: I just looked at the linked list. Some other good ones:

Hero
The Wind That Shakes The Barley
United 93
Flags Of Our Fathers
Children Of Men

Can't believe that Lost in Translation came in at num 34 on the Best-Reviewed list. Most boring movie I've ever seen!

Best on the best list:
The Hurt Locker
The Class
Gosford Park
Y Tu Mama Tambien
Traffic
Talk To Her
Turtles Can Fly

On my list:

Finding Nemo
Coraline
Juno
Up
Shelter
500 Days of Summer
The Dark Knight
Star Trek (I went to see it four times in theaters)

For movies that were bad or I didn't really like...well, theres only one that sticks out. Its Dragon Wars. I wasn't expecting much when I went to see it, but it was the first time I ever remember wanting to leave and get my money back.

I liked the films in the beginning of the decade but the last couple of years have been nothing but CGI spectacles. But the best films of the decade for me have to be the following:

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (matter-of-fact for the last couple of decades)
Gladiator
The Dark Knight
Brokeback Mountain
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Letters from Iowa Jima
Kill Bill I and II
Chicago

I forgot about Chicago! It is probably my absolute favorite for this decade.

Chicago is how a musical should be done! But I also loved Hairspray and Dreamgirls. I absolutely abhorred Moulin Rouge but that's just me.

Having seen many decades of film, I have to say the best of all decades is:

Lord of the Rings Trilogy

at least for me.....

LOTR, as I lovingly call it, is in a class by itself, just like the original Star Wars trilogy. I think it's because it's a film series that not only was extremely popular with the public but also with movie critics and award shows. You have to admit that is extremely rare today. Sure, you may have Transformers but you'll never see it on any critics list. Conversely, you may have a list of what critics absolutely love but rarely will it ever be on a blockbuster list. Besides, when you have people who claim to have had a spiritual, some say religious, experience watching the trilogy then you know you've come across a real gem!

In my case, you're preaching to the choir.

But to one who has read the books over and over and over, and who was completely apprehensive about seeing this literature brought to the screen; what a treasure these films are. People will be watching this (and reading the books) until the end of time.

I have trouble understanding why Borat was on the best list. In my opinion that was the worst piece of garbage to ever be produced.

From all three lists, the only movies I've seen (I own the DVDs) are:

The Lord of the Rings trilogy
Star Trek
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
