BET: Mo'Nique's New Late Night Talk Show

It still amazes me that People of Color have yet to sustain a place in Late Night Talk.

Other than Arsenio Hall (who ran for 5 yrs), there hasn't been a successful minority-hosted late night talk show. That's too bad but I do hope that BET doesn't give up and gives someone else a crack at it.

I saw her show a couple of times and wasn't impressed.

Sure she's funny but that doesn't guarantee good hosting skills.

I can't see anyone else doing her role in Precious. That Oscar was well deserved but one award doesn't make her an actress.

She probably got greedy and BET decided she wasn't worth the money.

If she's not careful she could end up back on the stand up comedy circuit or stuck doing D-List movies geared towards black women.

I think Tuesday nights episode was the FINAL episode. BET is airing Movies and other shows in the 11pm time slot....

Yep that was the last show and it was a nice way to go out (giving stand-up comics their first crack at TV).

I agree that was the best way to go out...2 of the Comics need better material but they all were "decent"....

If "Money" was the deal-breaker and I do believe that it was, then Mo'nique really need to sit back and reflect on all the things she's lost out on because of Money.

Some "Entertainers" are in the Bizness because it's their passion. Some simply want "Fame". Some want "Fortune"....You can have it all if you truly Love what you're doing, know that you have to treat it as a "Career" and respect the Game.

I'm sure $ was a factor but I think there are other variables based on what I realized about TMS taping schedule. IMO she liked this opportunity BUT she also wanted to do other things. It turns out (and it took me a over a year to catch on), Mo'Nique taped way in advance (sometimes shows were 3-4 mos old before they aired) and perhaps there was a conflict with BET re: this method. Also, viewers may have noticed and complained. I wasn't crazy about this issue but clearly TMS wasn't Mo's priority (or she would've tried to stay current and at least tape the shows the same week they ran). Recently, I was annoyed that singer Anthony David was talking about a gig and he gives a March (of this year) date. This episode aired last month!
