Pop princess Beyonce Knowles and "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria might well be getting it on – on the big screen, that is, if Sofia Coppola has her way. The two beauties are in talks, says the New York Daily News, to play the lead roles in a film version of "Tipping the Velvet," the graphic Victorian tale of a love affair between a dance hall star (to be played by Knowles) and a fishmonger's daughter (Longoria). "We've had 'Brokeback Mountain,' so the time is right for this divine novel to get the same treatment," said Beyonce last week. And Longoria confirmed that she's angling to do the movie. Coppola has yet to get the green light, but is actively trying to get the movie made. :=D:

IF THIS MOVIE GETS THE GREENLIGHT, WOULD YOU WANT TO SEE IT?????????? :p

I think I would because I want to know if knowles cand handle such a serious role as well as Longoria. They're both used to playing pretty and glitzy women, but can they play something with less wit and more emotion and realism.

This was made into a tv show in the UK a couple of years ago. It was supposed to be very good but I'm not really into lesbians so didn't watch it.

I heard the BBc series was pretty bad. I don't know about Beyonce and Eva but I love Sofia Coppola.

This movie has potential to break $100 million it's first day if it's marketed correctly. LOL.

The BBC series was critically acclaimed and I'm sure it was nominated for awards.

In the words of Whitney Houston... hell to the N-O.
Beyonce couldn't act her way out of a paper sack. And I'm tired of seeing Eva.
Soffia would probably modernize it with a rock soundtrack.....

La Weave really needs to sit down.

With ya all the way! I can tolerate Beyonce because she makes a lot of hot songs and she's a beautiful woman, but as far as acting goes, I'm not impressed. "Dream Girls" is supposed to be great and it does look good, but I have this nagging feeling that Beyonce messed the movie up with her poor acting. So I definitely can't see her being a lesbian. All I can see is her fake smile, and/or angry face. lol :D

wow. beyonce, out of all the beautiful divas, i would had never thought. i thought she was okay in goldmember a few years back, but i have to see about this new movie. i am not really much into seeing girl-on-girl action just because i don't have a desire to watch it. if it does come out on the big screen, i do see a huge straight male audience since they love seeing two sexy women going at it with each other.

I thought the book was quite good (though not as good as Sarah Waters' later books), and I only saw a bit of the miniseries, but it looked fairly well done. I think this project sounds horrible.

dammit...xy i stole your thread lol...i had no idea til some jackass pointed it out...my bad.

I wonder if the story is even true? Beyonce has a very good girl image and this movie would shatter that image. And Eva Longpria I think Eva is getting better as an actress but I am sure they can handle this. The movie is set in the Victorian era they would need to get the accents down and they would seriously need to raise their range. I bet both of them will drop out of this movie. Also, I wouldn't want the movie to be some kind of sensationalistic voyerurism about lesbianism. It should be a serious dramatic piece. I can see Kirsten Dunst or Kiera Knightley doing this movie.

We could always do an IMDB search. That shows nothing coming up for any of the three women. One can only hope.

Why is newboy being a jackass? Did he post the same topic again and again as well?

I saw it this morning on the Daily 10 on E! So I take it the concept is still in talks, nothing definite yet. Nobody mentioned anything about when this begins shooting.
