SERIOUSLY. Anyone else get the chance to play the game Beyond Good & Evil? I believe it only came out on PS2 but maybe Gamecube as well, by Ubisoft, came out about 2002-ish.

If you haven't had the opportunity then PLEASE DO! This had to be the most complete and satisfying game ever made, it all just fit perfectly was easy to learn and the STORY WAS AMAZING!

Originally intended to be a trilogy, Ubisoft had some poor marketing and release date for the game and it stood no chance as a new title among the Christmas blockbusters. So because of poor sales, they cut the series indeffinately. Even the end is kinda a cliffhanger in preparation of the other two titles that never got made!

What upsets me most is EVERYONE who's played it KNOWS it's brilliant, and NO MATTER how many times it resurfaces in conversations with Ubisoft heads, there still hasn't been official talks of a sequal. The creator Michael Ancil (I believe thats how you spell it) was also the creator of some many other quality games... can't think of any at the moment... it's early. Unless I'm confused I think he made Psychonauts as well, which was just as brilliant and innovating. Although he has made some cryptic comments suggesting he would like to begin a sequal, it seems Ubisoft isn't really behind it.

This game deserves to be discussed!

I keep hearing about this game, specially on the GoNintendo podcast. Yes, it was released on the Gamecube as well. I want to play it... though Im not sure when I'll decide to get it.

Got some pictures. It seems yeah lots of people have heard of it and how amazing it is... yet never played it. Hmm. It really is a very endearing game, the whole world and its characters. Jade, the photo-journalist with a huge heart who takes in orphans from the Domz attacks. Her trusty sidekick Pey'J, the half man half pig who is brought to life and chalk full of character thanks to the wonderful voice acting.

Basic outline. Hillys is the planet they live on and Jade is the owner of an orphanage for kids whose parents have been killed by the Domz. Domz - are these aliens that attack Hillys and the citizens trust that the government who is split into the Hillys army and Alpha Squadron - special elite force - are protecting them from these attacks. Throughout the town there are flyers against a "renegade" group called the Iris Network who are supposedly conspiring against Hillys and with the Domz.

So Jade ends up finding out there is more to the Alpha Squadrons than meets the eye and just possibly the Iris Network are the only ones telling the truth. It speaks volumes about propaganda and war which is an underlying theme throughout.

Bought it, played it and loved it! It was cheap in my game store so thought i'd try it out. Great story and I thought some of the stealth gameplay had good tension which games like Splinter Cell lack. I loved Jade too!

I agree, the game is just awesome!!!

My big mistake was to buy the personal computer-version instead of the PS2-version.
Just because it was cheaper...damn:mad:
OK, the problem was the end boss of the game. It required a combination I just couldn't hack in fast enough on the keyboard- something including a backflip and the striking right away (although I knew exactly WHAT I had to do). It was so annoying. I knew what to do, but even with fingercramps it was impossible to do. It was physically not posible.
i would have managed it on the gamepad most likely, but after having finished basically the whole game, I didn't want to start all over as it had been pretty time-intensive so far.

So, I never got to see the end, and even with one crying eye, I remember Beyond G &E as a great game.

...And once again I was confirmed: if you have the possibility to play a game on a console, seize it and DO NOT play the PC version!!!!!!!

I also played it several years ago on xbox. I loved it but never finished cause the final challenge had the controls reverse and I am sooooooooo bad at that!

I've never played this game...wanted to, heard it was very good, but never got around to buying it. Perhaps I shall look for it...

Hmm I played it on PS2 and although it was frustrating, it wasn't too difficult. But I wouldn't know what its like on any other platform or PC.

Ha and not to be confused by the book by Nietzsche, although that is good as well.:D

I have never read the book either . I did download it the other day though from Project Gutenberg, it's just sitting in my Books to Read Next file. Text version can be found here, and the audio version here.
There is also a pdf version here.
