Big Brother 13

I don't watch the feeds. The only thing I see is what's shown on TV, plus whatever people bring up in this thread. The only thing I remembered was Rachel saying that Ragan sucked at being gay. I rewatched the fight and yeah, the "do you have to be the biggest bitch" comment was bad and I didn't remember that, but I didn't hear her mocking his voice, and he was doing that to her anyway if she did it to him.

I don't like Rachel nor Ragan as people, and I've said multiple times on this board that I think Rachel is vapid, delusional and obnoxious. But I like Rachel as a reality TV character. There is a difference. I mean Amber from BB8 was a vile human being but it was hilarious to watch her and I loved doing it. That doesn't mean I liked her.

You might as well put jeff in your avatar also than. while you're at it put hitler too.

so sgt pepper when rachel just recently asked jeff why jk rowling would want a gay character is that once again her bitchy witty humor that i'm just not getting ?

I was talking about her comments to Ragan on her season. I missed that part where she asked why would JK Rowling want a gay character. You're right, that does sound bad. It's definitely ignorant and stupid (typical Rachel) but she hasn't said anything overtly homophobic yet for me to truly label her as such. That's all I mean. It's not giving her a free pass; it's making a distinction between her stupid comments and Jeff's overtly homophobic ones.

Hopefully Kalia comments in the DR on tonight's show indicates that she's onboard with voting with Cassi and Dom and she's just humoring the vets.

What did Jeff say on his season? I don't remember anything ever being mentioned.

Well that's not at all a grossly inaccurate comparison... what as I did hear Jeff speaking of plans of global domination and exterminating entire races of people... Wait, no, he didn't say those things? Does this mean their are grey areas in issues of homophobia and racism? That sucks. Life was much easier when I could just equate everyone I disagreed with to Hitler, I mean it seems to work for Hitler... I mean the Tea Partiers but really they're just the same as Hitler what as everyone is the same as Hitler.

Pure silliness above. I just knew that there'd be a gay guy splitting hairs with Jeff's comments.

Pathetic and highly predictable.

kalia is playing a good game right now.

i hope jordan goes soon plus dominic and adam gross

Jeff got angry with Russell and called him a faggot.

oh ok...I vaguely remember that

after watching the new clip...I'm really torn with what to think. I mean I genuinely like Jeff (seeing as I didn't know this side of him), and watching him get so angry with Kalia...I'm not understanding what's going on in his head. Is he getting really angry because this is how he truly feels or is he just completely misunderstanding the whole conversation and thinks Kalia is putting words in his mouth? Like, he was getting really revved up over it and it wasn't the type of conversation that warranted it, it didn't really seem from the 2 minute clip I saw that Kalia was instigating anything. Doesn't seem like the Jeff that I've come to know over the past few years he's been on TV. Don't know what to think about it...obviously I don't agree with what he said...it's ridiculous (as was the whole conversation)...but on the other hand I really like him and this takes him down many notches (also the fact that NO ONE jumped in and said anything besides Kalia is frustrating)

He's not spitting hairs, he's making a distinction. Falconfan wrote a long post before clearly and unequivocally condemning Jeff's statements. He's just saying there are degrees of bigotry (which is true) and being an ignorant homophobic asshole like Jeff isn't the same as being a multiple murderer like Hitler. We can criticize someone and still make distinctions.

In fact, I don't really think anyone on this board has defended Jeff, which is a relief. You should read some of the comments on other BB forums.

Just when you think Ragan couldnt be a bigger disgrace to the gay species. The stupid little hoe defends Jeff on his blog:

http://ragan.wordpress.com/2011/07/13/my-reaction-to-jeffs-homophobic-rant/

First, I’m not going to reprise what Jeff said. I caught his homophobic rant on yesterday’s feeds. If you’re interested in learning more about his exchange with Kalia, perform a simple Google search.
I obviously dislike what Jeff said and think he’s utterly misguided. I also recognize that roughly half the people in the US share his opinion, because we are all products of various institutions that systematically deny the positive contributions of gays and lesbians. In other words, Jeff–like most people–is programmed to think this way. I’m more angry at the medical and psychiatric communities that, for decades, considered homosexuality a disease in need of a cure; and educational systems that continues to strategically omit the contributions of gay and lesbian people; and legal and legislative institutions that still do not consider gay and lesbian people to be full citizens. It looks like homophobia is an ongoing issue with Jeff. From what I’ve heard, he said a few homophobic things S11, indicating that his disregard and fear of gay people is, at least, somewhat habitual. I hope that he and others involved in this debate will realize that his words are not a reflection of whether or not Jeff is a “good” or “bad” person, and take this as an opportunity to think about the social practices, policies, and institutions that produce people with Jeff’s mindset.
On the flip, I know what it’s like to say something in the BB house and have people bend my words and take them totally out of context. The only difference I see is that my big controversial moment of S12 was intended to be a joke and Jeff wasn’t kidding around. He said what he said with passion and conviction, and even discredited Kalia, whose sister is a lesbian, when she tried to correct him. I’m happy people are discussing how Jeff’s words perpetuate false myths about gay men. For the record, 90% of child molesters are STRAIGHT, WHITE MEN. Additionally, study after study after study prove that teaching gay themes in school helps children have healthier attitudes about gender, sex, and sexual identity. The emergent question I see/hear is, “Why would a gay teacher–even a fictional one in the Harry Potter books–have to bring up his sexuality in the classroom?” This line-of-thought implies that sexuality is only relevant when it deviates from the norm. We live in a culture where heterosexuality and whiteness are constructed as absence of sexuality and race. In other words, we are trained to only recognize sexuality as sexuality or EXCESSIVELY sexual when it’s NOT heterosexuality. Certainly, heterosexual teachers talk about their engagements, spouses, weddings, anniversaries, and family structures on a daily basis. Most of my heterosexual teachers had pictures of their partners on their school desks. Additionally, all students in my school learned about the graphic (e.g., exact mechanics of heterosexual sex), sometimes violent (e.g., detailed accounts of heterosexual rape) characteristics of heterosexuality in Health class. The greater philosophical question is NOT whether or not gay teachers should bring up their sexuality in the class room. The real question is two-fold: First, why DON’T we recognize heterosexuality AS sexuality in the classroom? Second, why do we strategically erase the positive contributions of gays and lesbians in history books and in literature? Gay people are no more “viral” than, say, black men and women. Children don’t become gay by being taught the FULL story of history and literature, just as teaching black-inclusive history and literature doesn’t change the melanin in a child’s skin. Acting as if gay people don’t exist won’t make gay people disappear, even if you’re Harry Potter and holding a book of spells.
Before people grab pitchforks, give Jeff an opportunity to defend himself. I think Jeff is a guy with a few f’d-up thoughts about gay men and women but is, at his core, a good, friendly guy. Everyone, breathe. Jeff is not the problem. The cultural institutions that inform his mindset are what we should fear and fight.

Correct. The belief that Jeff Schroeder, mid 30s reality whore and former advertising salesman from Illinois, is anything less then an imperialistic, genocidal, maniac is one that is ridiculously pathetic. What can I say though, his Fuhreresque charisma and infamous manefisto where too much for me to resist. But how can I not allow myself to be swayed by the inflammatory rhetoric and socioeconomic theories when he delivers one of his trademark, eloquent speeches to the masses. I'm pretty sure I and most of his countryman would totally do whatever Jeff Schroeder said. He could and likely will convince all of America to resume engineering a master race, as because he is just THAT bad, worse than Hitler really. Because without America to swoop in and safe the day the world is pretty much doomed. I mean whose going to make Donald Duck cartoons about troops throwing tomatoes at Jeff Schrodeder... no one. I only hope that decades after his reign of terror, when his name has became practically synonymous with hate, mindless killing, and just all around evil there will be brave filmmakers who annually give themselves awards for making films about the few brave souls who were able to see through his intricate lies nd rescue the gays of the world.

I will take this shame with me to the grave.

He got so angry because Kalia was basically going to force him to state what he only wished to imply. People who have an awareness of the unsavoriness of their own opinions often don't want to openly acknowledge them and because she went all Socratic on him he basically was almost forced into it.

Quite the opposite of her putting words in his mouth she did the opposite and refused to assume his meaning, simply asking him to clarify, think and articulate better. These things are all terribly difficult for an idiot especially one who is bigoted and only has bigoted opinions because they were handed down to him with no basis of reason or fact.

She was not teasing or playing around with ragan, this was a very heated arguement and she went in for the jugular and it just saddens me that you would blame a gay man for creating a bigoted atmosphere as if we put ourselves in that type of environment because we like it. We like being bullied harrassed and spit upon and you defend her behavior as just mild horse play

Rachel was directly attacking a gay man by using his sexuality against him

Jeff was not, he on the other hand was comparing homosexuality to phedophilia.
You've got to be kidding me. Ragan was being a little bitchy over-the-top queen. He totally started with Rachel. He pretended to be her friend when she was still in the game then turned on her. She was totally blind sided. While he pretended to be her friend, she was very supportive of him and listened to him complain about his relationships with guys.

He got in her face and started cursing, finger waving, and eye/neck rolling. He was behaving like a straight up bitch. He was being a total cliche stereotype so why is it so wrong to call him out? THIS is the real PC bullshit. it's like gay people can act any crazy way they want and if anyone says something back they're homophobic.

I didnt take what Rachel said as homophobic at all. Ragan was acting so out of character to the person she knew in the house. To me she was asking if he thinks, HE needs to act like a bitch b/c he's gay, and he is clinging to gay stereotypes.

alright I gotcha...thanks for putting it like that, makes more sense.

I think this whole witch hunt that everyone is trying to do for Jeff, comparing him to Hitler and everything is absolutely pathetic. Besides this one glitch in his character (that as the post that aijalon posted from Ragan said most likely came from his upbringing) he's always come off as a nice, likable, attractive, doofy guy. Even though what he said is a very bigoted statement, likening him to a mass murderer is pushing it a bit.

Keith is paranoid as hell and wondering why the Mercedes chick hasn't packed yet and I'm LOVING IT! He's running around with Shelly.
