well duh, hello people, you think you can just traipse around the internet, make posts on web boards, and not have your username show up in a web search??? Come on, that's just naive.
 
No you don't, you choose a membername b/c that's what identifies you on the site, not for anonymity. Anything you post online is free to view to anyone on the internet, always has been.

thats why the usernames are anonymous ;)

it gives you the freedom to decide what level of exposure you prefer in your personal life

in order for it to matter, you have to knowingly out yourself to your friends.

that is easy not to do

your posts are open for the world to see, but you ridentity is completely anonymous if you want it to be.

I am and was naive about my posts showing up on Google. Someone had pointed this out before. I had thought that since you have to join to post that I was protected. I've known for some time, that Big Brother knows all, but I'm worried about that nut job out there.

seriously, were you guys that naive?? ANYTHING on the web is fair game for search engines. All they do is search for a block of text, like a username. If that username appears ANYWHERE on the web, the engine makes a match to the text u typed, and displays the response.

This is how it's always been on the web. Membership has nothing to do with the equation. If you put information on the web, ANYWHERE, it is free game to anyone. Period.
