anyone see it

I watched - the whole thing - below is a link to the transcript - feel free

guests:
Mark Cuban - owner of Dallas Mavs and successful businessman
Catherine Crier - journalist
Tony Snow - former Press Secty for GWB

then he also had on writer Matt Taibbi - who is following the primary season for Rolling Stone

basically what came out of this program was a 4 on 1 attack - with Tony Snow being the lone voice that was not mocking the President and anything Republican

and the really interesting thing was the TONE of the "debate"

Tony was respectful and thoughtful

the others mocked and attacked, especially Matt Taibbi - who continuously mocked the american public, american journalism, bush and his govt - such a snarky piece of shit he is - watch it please

Bill of course told Matt how much he loved his stuff in Rolling Stone

here are some of Matt's "pearls of wisdom"

1) On Mitt Romney he said .......

"his face is like a fuckin' cereal box" - nice

2) Matt said that the "surge working" is bullshit - so Tony said "how do u know it isn't working" so Matt said ......

"how can u know - reporters aren't out there"

so Tony said "u can ck violence rates, electricity generation, etc."

Tony tried to make a case - but Bill and his guests would have none of it

Mark Cuban chimed in with "u have to trust the people doing the counting? who trusts them?"

basically the 4 of them shouted Snow down

don't take my word for it - watch it

and let me know what u think

but my take is pretty simple

u have a republican on the set - the only one - trying to have a dialogue - with 4 others who are unable to listen or learn or even try to understand - instead they mock, ridicule and talk to hear themselves talk

let's see

4 on one side
1 on the other

the 4 on one side - talking over people - not listening - not seeing the other side - not even trying to

the 1 - trying to reason

4/5 = 80%

hmmmm

Almost have to agree.

This is like watching Special Report w/Brit Hume on Fox News....only in reverse! Instead of a panel of hardcore neocons, except for Mara Liason, stroking each other and extolling the virtues of the current adminstration and afraid to say anything that might agitate Brit (or Rupert), you have a panel of liberals, except for Tony Snow, afraid to say anything to agitate Mahr.

It should have been called "Special Report w/Bill Mahr"

I don't always agree with them....but give me Fred Barnes,Mort Kondracke(a moderate Democrat who will criticize Republican excess)Charles Krauthammer or whatever over their lefty mirrors on Bill Maher's screechfest to the already converted. The libs currently may be more on the side of the angels today because of the right's domination of Republican politics, and Bush's disastrous policies...but they are so sanctimonious,self-righteous and inflexibly rigid and simplistic in their thinking,it's like damning them with feint praise.

Liked Bill Maher at first, but then he became so sure of himself his shows (then on ABC with "Politically Incorrect")degenerated into virtually continuous 4 on 1 pileups with the latest Republican pinata, who all too often was a central casting hard line doofus.Remember Arianna Huffington's first years appearing on his programs?Talk about a flip flop....liked her better when she was Newt Gingrich's bitch over today being George Soros'.

I'm a big fan of Bill Maher, but was a pretty crummy show this week.

You are right on, Chance. Tony Snow was real class, like him or don't like him, watching this show, you have to give it to him for trying to discuss topics while the others just attacked without backup. Attacks are fine, but please have something to back it up with. The guy from Rolling Stone seemed to "be stoned" for the comments he was spilling. Snow was the only calm guy on the panel. If the others had stayed calm, it would have been an interesting look at differing views, but such was not the case here.

Snow knew who he was up against. He just knows how to talk and how to conduct himself.

Tony is a class act in some ways, he may be misinformed and totally clueless to the incompetence of his ex bosses and the Republican party, but he genuinely supports and believes in them. I did not like the way they all ganged up on him, it was sorta like watching one of his old news conferences. Respect must be made to the man for his undying dedication to the administration. Problem is, he seems to actually believe the Republicans are doing well and that's too bad. It's interesting, in the days he was press secretary I often thought he was lying or just stupid, but now I think he actually belived in what he said.

I did not care for the blog questions, I will be happy when the writers come back and we can have New Rules again.

Snow should ask who else is on the show before he commits.

it's Tony's fault

so when 4 kids at school pick on 1, the it's the fault of the 1 for "being there"

Tony did fine actually and an independant viewer probably wondered whty the other 4 were soooooo nasty and could not engage in reasonable debate

Perhaps Tony thought he could make change some people's minds since u never read about the "surge working" in the newspapers

To me the 4 on 1 isn't so bad as long as it's a debate not a gang up

as for the Rolling Stone "reporter" to me he is a perfect example of what is wrong in "journalism" today - so sure he's right (which is bad) but worse, nasty and w/o respect for others - and bill as moderator should have managed the discussion better

Snow came accross as if he were still a White House spokesperson and we have all had enough of that crap.
I believe he got as much "air time" as each of the other guests. Their time combined undoubtedly exceeded his, but they individually were all afforded equal time.
As for the new format, I liked the old one better. I really enjoyed the former "New Rules" segment and Bills' final summations.

wow

i think he came across as a person who believes what he believes - which is diff from u clearly - but ur take is that his opinion is somehow not valid - that it's "talking points" - and perhaps it's somehow not what he really believes

he is entitled to his opinion my man

just as u r

and u denigrating those opinions or him - says much about u

and ur take on his opinion says a lot about u

Maybe those will return when Maher gets his writers back.

They want to go back to work.

guess u didn't see it

or did u?

would love ur take on the "gang up"

can't recall u taking anyone on the liberal side to task for their behavior

EVER

Snow had his chance to get away from the spin. He didn't take it. He is a good man, I believe, but he should have left the WH running. There is no reason for him to continue covering for boy george. He needs to write a book about what goes on there.
