Here's the latest sales numbers for the best-selling albums in the U.S. according to SoundScan.

These are the figures that will be printed in the Dec. 1 issue of Billboard magazine. This, since Billboard defines a chart year from first week of Dec. to last week of Nov., will be the first album chart of '08.

LW TW

- 1. Alicia Keys, "As I Am" (600-625k)
6. 2. Josh Groban, "Noel" (250-275k)
2. 3. Eagles, "Long Road Out Of Eden" (215-275k)
- 4. Celine Dion, "Taking Chances" (195-205k)
- 5. Various Artists, "Now That's 26" (190-200k)
3. 6. Garth Brooks, "The Ultimate Hits" (180-190k)
5. 7. Carrie Underwood, "Carnival Ride" (120-125k)
1. 8. Jay-Z, "American Gangster" (120-125k)
4. 9. (tie): Chris Brown, "Exclusive" (100-105k)
- Led Zeppelin, "Mothership" (100-105k)

The four debuts mean four albums drop out: "Blackout" by Britney Spears; "Taylor Swift" by Taylor Swift; "I-Empire" by Angels And Airwaves; and "B.A.R.S. The Barry Adrian Reese Story" by Cassidy.

Down from 7 to 25 for Britney. Now that's a good news. The eagles sold almost as many as she sold on her first week after 4 weeks on the charts.
I guess all her old fans have apparently grown up and wiser and have higher IQ.
I'm surprised that Celine Dion didn't sell as many as alot of poeple thought.

Josh Grobin's appearance on Oprah yesterday should help him stay near the top for a couple more weeks too. Her sheep are now aware...
Suspect Dion's traditional fans don't know she has a new release out yet.

Christmas CD usually do good around this time anyway.
Maybe Celine needs to go on Oprah. With the strik going on a lot of talk show are in repeat. That could be tough to get some exposure.

Britney's complete crash from 2-7-25 is a lot more horrific than even I expected.

Even 2003's poorly selling "In The Zone" managed to stay in The Billboard 200 Top 5 in it's 3rd week. It dropped from No. 1-3-5.

This sucker will probably be outta the Top 200 quicker than Kelly Clarkson's "My December," which lasted for 18 weeks.

wow, good for Alicia, 723,125 is a pretty impressive number, i bought a copy. its a truly wonderful album

it's no surprise that alicia got those numbers. "no one" is doing great everywhere (#1 on hot 100 for sure), great reviews for her album and she's doing promo. good for her.

brit lol...what i can say? nothing surprising either. no promo, no good image, gimme more did his job. at least she'll be gold, i guess.

and all the top 10 albums selling above 100,000 copies...that's nice.

.
If she can manage to stay in the top hundred she might be able to get gold status. But it looks like she's trying to catch up with J. Lo CD which is quickly vanishing from the charts. She should have stayed away from the public eyes for at least a year then release the CD. It's like one bad press after another poeple just got their stomach churning everytime they see her name in the paper and internet. She basically OD the public with her personal life really.

OK, I actually heard the Britney album and although her voice is so processed and effected that it could be ANYONE (including a computer) for more than half the album it really isn't THAT bad.

I think that since the first single is so weak and rather annoying, it's stunted the sales. If they choose singles well, that album could be a late bloomer.

"Gimme More" pleased the fans in the first two seconds, but once the "It's Britney, Bitch" is past, the song itself is hookless and more of a drone than anything else.

There's better songs on the album. That being said, it's obvious that her star power is pretty much gone. She can't sell records simply because it's her.. she's got to make good ones.

One thing that makes me a bit sad is that although the Eagles album is doing really well is that there will be little radio support for that album since they dont' have a major label behind them.

There are four REALLY strong possible singles on that album and I doubt that they'll be hits.

Check out songs like "Last Good Time in Town" and "What do I do with my heart" or "Fragile Grip on Reality" and you'll see what I mean.

I totally agree with you. Too much overload on her personal life. Plus, with the children issue at hands. the public takes sides. Her public image isn't good at all. It's all about perception.

I just purchased the album over last weekend. I've played the hell out of it already. It's truly a great album. You're right though. Since they are not on a major label. They get no promo in the right direction.

I love their title song. It won't get airplay due to the length of the song. I love disc 2 more than disc one.

I have a theory that Disc 2 is ACTUALLY the album but that the powers that be at the new Walmart-owned label told them it was "too political and inaccessible" and they went back and recorded Disc 1 which is, catchy as it is, just a collection of sappy country love songs.

One of the things that drives this theory home for me is how Disc 2 is produced with a lush, full, polished and rather beautiful sound whereas Disc 1 sounds like it was recorded in someone's living room.

In a way, it's good.

A major label would never have allowed a double CD to be released. Nobody does that anymore. Those of us who enjoy The Eagles are happy to get two albums out of the deal and country radio gets a bunch of hits.

I also think it's maybe the guys enticing conservative America with Disc 1 and then hitting them over the head with their anti-war, anti-religious right album.

If you haven't bought the album.. even if you're not a fan.. just buy it.

First, it's great and even people who aren't fans of The Eagles like it and second, it will mean that more artists will be able to release the albums they WANT to release instead of releasing the albums that some A&R guy who'd be just as happy selling shoes for Buster Brown thought was marketable.

I just have to say I love Alicia Keys' new album. I am proud that she has the #1 album and single.
