"Bitch" isn't an acceptable term of criticism. Nashville Tennessee dumps Kid Rock over slur against Joy Behar.

I'm afraid you're mixing up the events. Shaw was already a lionized hero before this fiasco erupted with Kid Rock. The magazine spread predates and is unrelated to the Grand Marshal change.

It was simply a matter of Kid Rock behaving dishonorably so losing his plum position, the same thing that happens to anyone who is in a representative role and screws it up with some sort of disgrace. Shaw was simply an easy go-to once they yanked the offer from Kid Rock.

I'd wager that he was on the short list already when Kid Rock was chosen, so they just moved down the list one name, probably.

And visit Nashville sometime. It's a lot less divided than say, Atlanta, and a lot less political. It's just a progressive urban metro with folks from all over. It's not Austin. It's not DC. It's not Atlanta. It's more relaxed.

I've wondered, it is ever appropriate to use that word...defined as a hassle or a difficult task? Such as like "Rush hour on the L.I.E. (Long Island Expressway) is a real bitch"-???

Or has that lost favor, too?

That hip hop and rappers get away with it and racial slurs is one thing, but they get a pass because they have been oppressed and can't therefore be guilty of sexist abuse, only victims. But the rest of the country should stop.

Gays are just as likely to use bitch as "rappers" are. I'm always hearing "bitch please" around town

I misread the thread then I guess. So there was no Twitter war? Any audio of when he called her a bitch?

Again. I ask. who thought that he would ever be a good choice for the Nashville parade?

I used to be a huge fan of The View before it became a liberal cry baby show. Joy Behar calls everything and everyone a bitch she's been doing that for years.

I don't think any term of criticism is acceptable anymore. Everyone gets a gold star just for breathing.

I can remember the first time I heard this and I took it really personally. Bit of a growing pain for me.

Unfortunately, my gay friends here are the only ones I hear use the term. I think many gays think it is expected in that they think they are obligated to assume the persona of a "sistuh" in a diva style.

Here is the clip from the actual incident as it was broadcast live on Fox & Friends from a spot they were doing in Nashville:

The irony is that he was saying people should be less divided, but then he took a gratuitous swipe. You can't have it both ways.

And the response from The View in a news clip: https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entr...-calling-her-a-bh_us_5c02c20ce4b04fb2116889db

Who thought he would be a good choice in the first place?

look at the location, then you'll understand why a washed up rock star was the first choice and a man who risked his life to save others was the Plan B

Kid Rock loves to take shots at the left but I don't disagree with what he's saying. He's a straight shooter and isn't very politically correct. Calling her a bitch was a bit much but I'm a much bigger fan of his than I am of hers at the end of the day. He's saying what a lot of people are thinking so I doubt this cost him fans or really hurt him much.

"bitch" is a common term his fans use when they beat their girlfriends

I'm home. But I was in Nashville last week and had a great time.

I was in that Wal-Mart! I stayed in a motel on Trinity Lane and the nearest bus line ran on Dickerson Pike and ended at that Wal-Mart.

The day before I left this affair still took up all the op-ed page of the Tennesseean newspaper...days after the parade was over.

I loved what Nashville Scene wrote about it all. In part:

The city is not short on people who would have made great grand marshals for the annual Piedmont Natural Gas Nashville Christmas Parade.

Instead, the parade organizers went with the John Rich of the North - human pedal tavern Kid Rock. Perhaps best known nationally as a rich-from-birth suburban Detroit white guy who made a career out of performing music invented and perfected by poor black people (hip-hop) before switching to music invented and perfected by poor white people (country). Rock is famous locally for getting arrested for fighting with a DJ at a strip club. Even though he's from Michigan, a state that lost 15,000 Union soldiers in the Civil War, he used to wield the Confederate battle flag as a stage prop. And he didn't take his hat off inside the White House when he went to visit his buddy, President Trump.

'Human pedal tavern"! ROTFL.

The whole cultural appropriation whine is tedious.

Elvis, long after his death, is chipped away like an old tree by those who resent his success.

The fact that culture transcends ethnicity and race is endemic to the success of many cultures, to their being accepted.

We do it every day in myriad ways, in cuisine, attire, dance, music, art, and so many others.

Resenting someone non-native to a culture making money off it would be akin to resenting a group from selling their petroleum rights to those who had the technology to exploit it. "They should not pump oil because their people never had the know-how to do that." That's lame, and whining about folks dressed in headresses or singing the blues is lame.

Kid Rock is just a flake, sans cultural appropriations.

He's a straight shooter and isn't very politically correct.

"Straight shooting" when used as a euphemism for crude or sexist is no virtue. It's like saying a man slapped his four-year-old for being whiny or annoying. "Well, he is a straight shooter. That kid knew his dad didn't put up with that shit."

Yeah, cool. Unvarnished thug.

He's a straight shooter and isn't very politically correct.

That's not what's happening here. He's a misogynistic idiot with a fanbase not known world-wide for its intellectual prowess. "not being PC" and being an ignorant loud-mouth asshole are two different things, contrary to white the WASP delegation would have you believe.
