BLACK FRIDAY: What would it take...

Didn't a Walmart employee get trampled to death a couple of years ago on Black Friday?

I believe it was Walmart. He was trampled when he was unlocking the doors. The crowd stampeded and literally ran him over. A pregnant woman was also trampled one year. I can't recall a year when someone hasn't been seriously injured or even killed because of Black Friday sales.

It's sad that people die because of these sales. It's even more sad that the stores don't even seem to care.

Clean-up on Aisle 3 and carry on with business.

Nothing! I pay no attention to black Friday, or Christmas in general.

It's all about GREED, just like everything else in this world...:(

Is there anywhere outside the US that has Black Friday sales? Never had anything like that here

Not that I know of. We in Canada celebrate Thanksgiving in early October. We don't even have Thanksgiving sales except, perhaps, in grocery stores, and then it's mainly for Thanksgiving dinner supplies. There are no 'Thanksgiving Day Sales'. We celebrate the holiday, not the beginning of the holiday season.

Cheers man - got to admit the deals look pretty good, if you can get your hands on them I guess

What gsdx said is correct. People get way too crazy over a few dollars on that day. Don't get me wrong: there are some really good deals on Black Friday, but a lot of stores limit it to the first x number of people who get to the register or they'll just mark-up prices and "lower them" for Black Friday.

On a good note, I just bought a $225 Kenneth Cole Reaction Pea Coat for $58 on Amazon. I saw the special go up, drove to Macy's to try it on (they were $99.99 at Macy's that day), came back and ordered it. It got here two days ago.

It's badass. It's hardly cold enough here to wear it since it's mostly wool, but when I travel next year, that bad boy's tagging along :gogirl:

No frickin' way am I getting sucked into the Black Friday thing.....

I am going to do my grocery shopping at Wegmans on Friday morning. I do this each year. Everyone is at the other stores, and Weggies is vitrually empty, because everyone has already done their grocery shopping before the holiday! :D

I spent much of yesterday watching television (I had to get out of my room...I've been stuck in here for a week), and was kind of amused by the Black Friday ads butting up against the Christmas ads. But that amusement only lasted through two episodes of Bones and half an episode of Grimm (have you seen this show? HOT lead actor)... after that, it got very old.

Do people really buy automobiles as Christmas presents? And do such people really care if said automobile is on sale? That's always struck me as very odd.

The jewelry ones always make me giggle... it's always such tacky jewelry! There's this one where a girl goes all gooey with joy because her guy gives her this ring with teeeeeensy weensy diamonds in it; I would be all "Oh, that's so cute! Look at the little baby diamonds!"

To answer the OP, though, I wouldn't be caught dead at a Black Friday sale. Maybe if they were giving away free lap dances or happy-ending massages, but only maybe...

nothing. Most of the shit (most) is low end crapola.
Anyone the slightest net savvy can find better pricing on usually better quality products online before and after this redneck dream date to camp out in front of a best buy to get a super deal on one of there Dyxn house brand 40" flat screens.
Name brands of quality shit is extremely limited be it clothing or electronics and the rest is shit that will fill your landfill with more cheap ass plastic in a year or two.

and anyone willing to put themselves in front of a Wal-mart or target when the Dino run starts the stampede for a fucking clunker is more gamey then I.

Not so odd when they buy cars to remember veterans, presidents, and Christopher Columbus. Every 'Day' seems to be an occasion for a week-long car sale.

I went black friday shopping online at american eagle.. 40% off and free shipping.. hit it up in the morning and things sstarted running out in my cart so i didnt delay.. then when i tried to get on the site later there was a waiting room... insane...

Did my Black Friday shopping this morning - bought the coat I wanted.

And life goes on.
