I see it has been announced on Reuters News that Tony Blair is to be employed as a Senior Advisor by the American banking company J.P.Morgan Chase & Co. Is this pay back for his support of the Bush Administration's Iraq policy?. Is he to retire to the U.S.A. to keep George Jnr. company after he leaves the White House?. Is there any connection between J.P.Morgan Chase and Blair's position as a Middle East negotiator ie the Government of Israel?. The questions are endless. All comments welcome.

Please provide just a tiny bit of evidence of your conspiracy theory. I'm not saying you're wrong...yet.

It was not intended as a conspiracy theory, but knowing how the U.S.A. is home to a good conspirital story,it's not a bad idea. I just wonder how these guys get these jobs?. Does he need a work visa like the rest of us foreigners?. How is he taxed.? Big question, what is his salary?. What are his qualifications for the job?. Blair was never in charge of the U.K. budget. Is it just simply job's for the boys as it's known in Australia.
On a more serious note does this position with the bank compromise Blair in the eyes of the Arab nations as a negotiator in the Jewish/Palestinian problems?.

^ no qualifications needed for a man of his stature in the world ..... his name on their letterhead is worth a lot more than whatever salary they pay him. I doubt you'll find him in a drive through window taking deposits and cashing paychecks. :D

Tony Blair joins investment bank

Tony Blair has taken a part-time post with US investment bank JP Morgan.

Mr Blair, who stood down as UK prime minister in June last year, has been employed "in a senior advisory capacity", the bank said.

He said he looked forward to advising the bank on the "political and economic changes that globalisation brings".

It is not known how much JP Morgan will pay him, but some estimates say more than $1m (£500,000) a year. The bank said he had a "unique perspective".

It said Mr Blair would advise the firm's chief executive and senior management team, "drawing on his immense international experience to provide the firm with strategic advice and insight on global political issues and emerging trends".

"Our firm will benefit greatly from his knowledge and experience," it said.

Since leaving Number 10, Mr Blair has been an unpaid envoy for the Quartet of Middle East peace negotiators.

Europe presidency

Mr Blair earlier told the Financial Times he planned to take up "a small handful" of similar roles with other companies in different sectors.

"I have always been interested in commerce and the impact of globalisation.

"Nowadays, the intersection between politics and the economy in different parts of the world, including the emerging markets, is very strong."

As an envoy for the Middle East quartet, Mr Blair works on behalf of the US, Russia, the UN and the EU.

In October, Mr Blair was publicly backed by French President Nicolas Sarkozy for the job of president of the European Council - dubbed "president of Europe" - a role which will be created under the terms of the new EU reform treaty.

However, the former prime minister has played down speculation he is to be offered the job, with his spokesman at the time saying Mr Blair is "focusing on his current role in the Middle East".

JP Morgan, one of Wall Street's leading banks, is part of JP Morgan Chase & Co, a global financial services firm with assets of $1.5 trillion (£760bn) and operations in more than 50 countries.

I must not have read all of my article. I just noticed that the French Pres is backing Blair for Pres of Europe. First I've heard of Europe even wanting a Pres. What's next Pres of the World?

It's Gordon Brown's doing, probably. He want his former boss out of the way while he continues to fuck the British People just like he did as Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Mr. Blair is a trained barrister, like his wife, Cherie. After becoming Prime Minister, any other job in the UK is crap. Therefore he's gone abroad, coz it's the only place where he feels he's not being misunderstood yet.

The US has a president... why are you surprised the EU gets one?

Good luck to Tony Blair, for he has a brilliant intellect and worth every penny he will be paid.

It is not my understanding that Blair's position as a consultant will oblige him to leave the UK and work in the United States. JP Morgan has offices in the UK and other countries around the world.

Fuck it, if the lying, corrupt, warmongering bastard is suitable to be Middle East Peace Envoy, then why not get a few million a year from Wall Street as well?
