Take a look at what they are doing to Tibet. A beautiful
religious country that all but dissappeared from the earth.
The world has allowed this the USA has let this happen .
Poor China my ****. Pick a real hero

Actually, now that you mention it, I HAVE taken a look at what they are doing to Tibet. Have YOU? Or have you just gobbled up whatever Big Brother tells you about Eastasia? Perhaps you should visit Tibet, and see for yourself whether or not it's disappeared.
You're all about religious countries, huh? Good! Cause whatever freak ends up in power after we leave Iraq is gonna be a whooooole lot more religious than Saddam was. And NOT in a good way.
Gimme a break dept. What the hell does falun gong have to do with the world economy?
I think you've bought into the official Chinese line that they need an authoritarian system to prevent chaos.
The reality is that they're in a period of (very prolonged) transition from a totalitarian dictatorship to (hopefully) a system with the same amount of economic and political freedom as the West. In the meantime, they've got a little bit of each, with a lot of corruption thrown in, of course.
Which in practice means they've abandoned state-guaranteed health care for the rural poor (a few hundred million people) while the top government officials line their pockets with the takings from global trade.
Yes, they've come a long way, and I applaud them for that, but I don't see any reason to whitewash their continued suppression of free speech and a free press.
How much do YOU know about China? Have you made your own personal assessment of the situation, and come to a conclusion? Do you know better than China's leaders how to run China? REALLY now, back up your statements with some evidence, or at least some history. It sounds like you've bought (word. for. word.) what you've been fed, as well. I have highlighted several parts in red, let me address them.
official Chinese line - Unfortunately, it's not just the 'official' Chinese line; it's the collective opinions of the majority of it's people, who believe it or not, don't go through daily brainwashing sessions. I've talked to Chinese people in China about free speech. They give me a funny look, and go, "Silly, you know, people have to eat, too, right?"
(very prolonged) transition - China's been around for millennia. The average Chinese person's mentality, when it comes to large scale things like countries, considers 50 years quite a short amount of time- unlike the United States, which has been around for oh, a few centuries. The Chinese have no interest in shooting ahead like a bullet. They have faith that they will end up on top... they just 'know'.
same amount of economic and political freedom as the West. -
This one really made me smile. PURE Eurocentrism, in the flesh. I, unlike you, hope that China will one day have MORE economic and political freedom, and I definitely hope that China won't use *the West* as a standard, and the epitome of all that is good and advanced.
And FYI, China actually has a lot more economic freedom than the United States. As an Entrepreneur in China, you have a LOT of freedom. The freedom to set up a monopoly, the freedom to set wages below a 'minimum wage,' the freedom to buy land that's not yours, just because you're richer than the people currently living there, etc. etc.
Know what you're talking about. Please. The typical liberal in America holds social freedoms up, and economic freedoms down. Libertarians are the ones that hold both freedoms in importance. I'm not sure which you view as more 'advanced' or 'western'.
a lot of corruption - Read up on why China turned Communist, and why America failed. Go for it. I'm here to enlighten, not educate.
state-guaranteed health care for the rural poor (a few hundred million people) - The USA doesn't either. Although the US population is a lot smaller- don't spout big numbers at Chinese people, they DEFINITELY won't be impressed. Canada does, but ya know, Canada's just awesome like that.
top government officials - In fact, it is the middle level officials that are pocketing money. It is a problem that they've been trying to get rid of for awhile now, and they are working their way from the outsides (the top and bottom) in.
Please, making judgments is bad already... at least try not to make judgments about things you've never seen.
In short, I am tired of people spouting shit that they haven't done any investigative thinking of their OWN about. I am tired of people having 'opinions' that are actually just a veritable recording of what they are fed. It is this mindset that is what perpetuates ALL evil in the world.
P.S. My opinions do not correlate with the standard U.S. (*west*) position, OR the standard Chinese position. Before you let your fingers fly, ask yourself about your opinions, where they come from, and their subsequent validity, why don't you?
