Sadly I have to get my tonsils removed tomorrow, and I know this will take me out of the running to give any head for a bit, I'm not sure how long I should wait though. My doctor says it should all be healed within two weeks, but i don't know if it'll be safe to give bjs then.

Anyone know anything? Thanks!

When I had my tonsillectomy the back of my throat got white scar tissue and after that healed completely (they tell you to eat cornflakes to help it peel off) I was able to eat regular food and give head.. But it might not be a good idea since the skin is likely to be very sensitive and could break again if you are too rough.

^^^ agree. There is nothing so great about a BJ that you want to break recivery protocol. YOU get the BJ for a change. Have him bring chocolates (no nuts). Milk it so to speak.

This is a question for your ENT. Because bleeding is always a risk after tonsillectomy, he should answer the question about how soon you can resume daily activities of all types.

After having that surgery, I wouldn't give head for 3 weeks; instead, I would focus on HEALING and making sure everything goes alright.

My suggestion: drink protein shakes to help speed up recovery. I attribute that to my speedy recovery from a pilonidal cystectomy this past summer.

This has gotta be a joke?
I had my tonsils chopped out when I was 22, so 6 years ago. Took a good month at least before I felt like sucking on ANYTHING. Enjoy the painkillers for a few weeks and quit worrying about skanking it up.

This thread just brought back AWFUL memories for me...

My tonsils were taken out when I was 25...

The surgery was SCHEDULED, yet I found that I had a COLD... :(

They WON'T take your tonsils out WITH a COLD -- So, since my MOTHER had ALREADY flown across the country to take care of me () , we told the doctor that we would stay in a hotel CLOSE to the hospital JUST IN CASE I had a BLEEDING issue (due to my congestion) -- and, since my mother is also a doctor -- he agreed to do the surgery...

Well...

We DIDN'T stay at a hotel -- we went back to MY PLACE a couple hundred miles away...

AND...

My congestion got WORSE -- THREATENING to loosen the blood clots on the wound...

It got SO BAD that Mother started writing prescriptions like CRAZY for Tussin (a prescription drug back then), and all sorts of other stuff...

NOT TO MENTION the PAIN!!!

Which she WOULDN'T write prescriptions for... :(

Oh well...

I survived -- and it WASN'T FUN at ALL...

Never ONCE thought about sex...

Best of luck dude -- its a BITCH!!!

Let us know how it goes...

:):):)

You should know that it takes about six weeks to heal from this type of surgery where you won't feel like you have had anything done. There is a risk of wound infection for probably up to a month.

More importantly, who do you blow? I have read threads here where people consider receptive oral sex to have a virtually non-existent risk to becoming infected with hepatitis and HIV. Some of these poster would blow anyone. However, the tonsillectomy wound is open a raw and very susceptible to transmission of these viruses.

I would suggest alternative sexual gratification for six weeks.

So, how did the surgery go? For our education: what was said about recovery time and vigorous oral activity?

I might need my tonsils removed sometime by next year. My first route is to attempt minimal invasive CO2 laser; it's not complete removal just blasting the surface. I keep reading horror stories on post removal recoveries. Keep us updated so we can learn.

Wow people, I'm not a slut... i was just curious if anyone had ACTUAL experience with this that I could go off of instead of my instincts.

So my surgery was last Tuesday (8th). They said the wounds would take 7-10 days to fully heal, but i should refrain from any strenuous activity that would cause heavy breathing for at least two weeks. They didn't say anything about vigorous oral activities, just that I should use my own judgement about what kinds of food I could eat, and not to push myself. My recovery was going okay until Saturday when I had a coughing fit that tore off some of the clots in my throat and caused quite a bit of breathing. Long story short, went back to ER and they had to put me back under to remake the clots. Probably set my recovery back a day or two, but I'm fine now. Still a good amount of pain, but the pain meds take it away so I only feel it when I wake up in the mornings.

Nobody said anything about being a slut. But when you are having any kind decently serious surgery and you're more worried about when you can suck dick, well, it kinda leaves judgement wide open?

Oy vey! You don't have the brains to figure this out for yourself? You shoulda had a lobotomy, instead. Pain meds, my ass. I'm calling you a drama queen, and I stand by it.

Just wait two months then. I mean, two months out of the rest of your life won't kill you. Some guys go years without sucking a dick.

Hi everyone,

I had my tonsillectomy last Oct 29, 2013 and my boyfriend is arriving this holiday season.. I juz want to know if its already safe to have oral sex? I feel fine at all.. no infections, etc.. juz wanted to make sure..

I guess your bf doesn't reach your tonsills :) ? In anyway, if you are worried about the wound - it should be healed (unless you had some complications and/or bleeding lately. If the later is the case, you should also see your doctor ..

One of the reasons that my earlier post indicated to check with your ENT (surgeon) is that adult tonsillectomies are much more complicated and risky than pediatric tonsillectomies. Your surgeon knows the extent of your surgery and you should have been given your post-operative instructions. If there's still doubt, make a call to the surgeon's office and ask the nurse.

Thanks for all your responses guys.. :) we had an amazing sex last holiday season.. :) hehehe and Im going to see him again next week in England.. :) Happy New Year everyone.. :D
