  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Bluesky.

It definitely is kid-safe from what I see.

But I doubt if many 13 year olds are interested in it.

One of the things I love is that META threads is apparently shocked that even though they have many times the 'members' than Bluesky, at the moment, their daily engagement numbers are 1.5 times that of Bluesky. :rotflmao:

It is like how Xitter has 230 billion subscribers but 229.95 are likely just crypto and Kremlin troll bot accounts

I've never been interested in subscribing to any of these sites. Twitter? Tweets? These always sounded so trivializing. X? This just sounds dark, as if Armageddon is around the corner.

Well that sums up Xitter certainly.

I am loving the farewell notes that some of the major players on Xitter are posting as they cease activity.

So Bluesky is exposing the degree that Xitter and Threads throttled exposure to external news links, relying on 'content creators' and 'influencers' because it was more lucrative and theoretically kept eyeballs on their feeds. Farcebook is so bad that there now is vitually no linking to external news sources and it has blocked Canadian news entirely.

Some newspapers are reporting new contacts throiugh Bluesky that are two and three times what they have had on Xitter and Threads.

Definitely noticing more actual content and engagement with legit scientists. There's almost zero on farcebook and if you are a scintist on Xitter all you got was Kremlin bots and the tin foil hat far right wingers dumping shit on your posts.

Uh oh. The Zuck is rattled. That's a good sign.

BTW. In the last week or so, Bluesky has added another 2 million +/- users and more good news sources etc.

The exodus from the other platforms continues.

Musk going full NAZI was the final straw for many over on XITTER and every few days there is one of the remaining few journalists or artists whose pages I follow who announce they are dropping META pages.

Over the last few weeks over 1.5 million people have dropped off Xitter and are posting on Bluesky. https://bsky.app/

Musk's embrace of Trump, combined with the absolute mess he has made of Twitter, particularly during the election have been the final straws for a lot of users.

His behaviour in Brazil before he relented lost him huge numbers of subscibers there.

Every day on FB and on other SM sites, I see announcements from celebs, companies and even media that they are leaving Twitler for Bluesky.

The site is modelled after Twitter (it was, after all, created by Jack Dorsey), but will not be welcoming the toxic right wing posters.

So far it appears very civil. The trick will be not letting it get over-run with troll bots and Kremlin bot accounts.
I am there. I want to be able to post my account on my profile. The many I followed are on Bluesky and are no longer posting on X.

I see that there are now over 35 million on Bluesky.
