It will get worse, rather than better. As the US becomes more diverse, there will be less consensus on even basic principles. That is the problem now. Roe v Wade was a turning point in more ways than one. All 50 states had legislation prohibiting or limiting abortion. Roe was an dishonest departure from the Constitution, from democratic rule and from the rule of law. Reagan used abortion and tax resentment to mold the Republican Party. Democrats have used class and racial hatred to divide the country further. Eventually we will have a one party system. Think of Chicago politics on a national basis, but turbulent times lie ahead.

Nonsense. I said nothing about his history in California, but about his use of the abortion issue to mold the national party. This is from Wikipedia:
"Reagan managed to gain the support of pro-life groups when running for president, despite his authorization of the "Therapeutic Abortion Act", by advocating a constitutional amendment that would have prohibited all abortions except when necessary to save the life of the mother.[26] He saw "abortion on demand" as emotionally harmful.[26]

1) You need to read up on the diverse methods that the federal government uses to generates revenue.

2) Reagan hammered the wealthy with capital gains and corporate taxes.

3) Conservatives are forgiving when they get lip service.

Lobbyists buy into both parties so they get what they want regardless of the political outcome. It's called: "hedging your bets" which any sound investor does.

Reckon, if you want to play technical, Republicans DO control Congress but NOT the Senate which in-turn, forms a bilateral cameral or in laymen's terms: "lame-duck session".

Neither party controls Congress. Republicans control the House of Representatives.
democrats control the Senate. It is a bicameral legislature, i.e. two room. That is the correct term you were searching for. The lame duck period comes after an election, when some members will be leaving when the Congress ends.

I wasn't even talking about the courts. What we have in Congress is not representative democracy, because for most Americans there are never any candidates who will actually represent them. Until we make the House three times the size it is and have proportional representation within state delegations, that isn't going to change.

And we pretty much have a one-party system now -- the corporate party, with two branches.

For centuries this system has worked through compromise and debate, but NOW Obama is just sooooooo evil, that ONLY a total collapse of the political system could stop him from destroying America...
