Here's another one that is so remarkable. I hope and pray that come 2012 elections that people will wake up. Boehner is a boner.

BOEHNER'S HOSTAGE STRATEGY BECOMES EVEN MORE RECKLESS.... It's important to appreciate the evolution of House Speaker John Boehner's (R-Ohio) rhetoric when it comes to raising the debt ceiling. This matters because, as we get closer to a crisis of Republicans' own making, Boehner is become more reckless and irresponsible, not less.

Here's Boehner in November 2010:

"I've made it pretty clear to [my caucus] that as we get into next year, it's pretty clear that Congress is going to have to deal with [the debt limit]. We're going to have to deal with it as adults. Whether we like it or not, the federal government has obligations and we have obligations on our part."

And here's Boehner in December 2010:

"We'll have to find a way to help educate members and help people understand the serious problem that would exist if we didn't do it."

And here's Boehner in January 2011:

"[A debt-ceiling default] would be a financial disaster, not only for us, but for the worldwide economy. I don't think it's a question that's even on the table."

Yes. The Republicans are using the debt as a excuse to wipe away social programs.

Where were they when Bush was President? Unfunded wars, Medicare Part D, the prescription drug benefits, tax cuts for the richest 1% not paid for. It's no wonder why the debt soared. Nothing was mentioned then, but that's all Republicans talk about now.

Now raising the debt ceiling would be catastrophic for the country, and they're playing politics with it now.

UPDATE:

What's really ironic is Boehner  says Obama has to act like an adult when he cries all the time.

Damn, the Republicans are entertaining!

Repeat after me - one more time... "We want Barack Hussein Obama to be a one-term president - the RNC." They have nothing else to offer.

Please see below:

What happened to Republican Deficit Hawks is the same thing that happened to the Democrat Deficit Hawks. Both parties decided that deficits didn't matter and that spending was the answer to all problems.

What Killed Off the GOP Deficit Hawks?

There was a time when fiscal conservatives and liberals would join together against the excesses of both parties but eventually 'Blue Dog' Democrats and moderate Republicans are called RINOs and DINOs and ridiculed. That is until the tea party and the word 'trillions' started to be everyday terms. Now fiscal conservatism is back in favor but the same folks who ridiculed the deficit hawks before are using them for their own purposes.

why would the RNC want Barack Obama to win a second term?

that's kinda like being outraged over ninjas supporting pirate genocide.

I'm confused. I was under the impression that the current term (2009-2012) was Obama's first. Please help me out. !oops!
Also, I don't understand this: that's kinda like being outraged over ninjas supporting pirate genocide. Ninjas? Pirates? :help:
By the way, I was just quoting President McConnell. :p

Obama gives up a third of what he wants before he ever gets to the negatiating table.

Boehner is smart to use the debt ceiling to threaten Obama. He can use this to push Obama all over the place.

They wouldn't, but statements that have been made indicate that's all they're interested in accomplishing -- everything can fall apart, for all they care, so long as Obama doesn't get re-elected.

So one has to suspect anything they do as being motivated by that.
