I want to purchase a domain name boiclub.com

It used to be owned by a gay porn site. I wanted the domain because I have a business under a similar name. I tried to get the domain while owners still had it, but I got no response to my inquiries. Later the owners of the gay porn site let the domain go and now the domain is owned by .. I don't know whom, it looks like a page full of links to other sites.

I tried to grab the domain before it expired but somehow the new company got it before me.

Either way, working with acquirethisname, the asking price is $680. Estibot.com, a domain-estimating website quotes $680 for the domain.

When I started out, the top price I was willing to pay for the domain was $300. It still is. I do not see paying higher than that. Nevertheless $680 is the offer, after months of negotiating back and forth. The seller made it clear to me through a domain broker that it's their last offer and they formed an agreement with this price and are now forcing me to make a decision to purchase or not to purchase within 48 hours.

$10 to $30 is the most I"ve ever been paying for a domain. Paying $680 is not worth it for me at this time. Is there any other way I can go here or it's just a moot point?

Darn I want it so bad.

The other names is a good idea. But I still want that particular one. I don't know why I am so stuck on this particular name though.

Kinda hate spending so much money on this domain. But I will. I think.

Update: I did not buy it. Too much money is being asked for it by greedy domain squatters.

Check back in about a month or better yet have someone else check. You may find the price has dropped...that person could then buy it and you could buy it from them.

Now that the realize you won't overpay for it, the price might drop. The TV station I worked for had this problem...they just used a slightly different name. The price just kept dropping, they finally got it for $25.00.

Does the TLD have to be '.com' ? You may find that the same spelling is available with a different TLD ending like '.biz' etc. Just a thought.

In addition, you might try looking at the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act (ACPA), or ICANN’s Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP). Whilst these are mainly of use if you use 'boiclub' as a trademark, disputes using the UDRP are mainly arbitrated by trademark lawyers and very much 'pro-plaintiff'. However, if you don't use 'boiclub' as a business name, then I'm afraid you're probably not going to have much luck. Nevertheless it may still be worth a try as many people regard cyber-squatters as scum and will do whatever they can to assist. Again, just a thought.
