BOOKS: What are you reading?

I am currently reading "My Happy Days in Hollywood" by Garry Marshall. It is a memoir about the late Garry Marshall who produced, directed, and wrote such great classic TV shows like: Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, The Odd Couple, and Mork and Mindy, etc. As well as iconic movies such as: Pretty Woman, The Princess Diaries, Beaches, Overboard. He passed away in 2016 at age 81. His younger sister was Penny Marshall who passed away in 2018 at age 75.

Just finished reading The Gift of Death by Derrida. I am currently reading Anti-Oedipus and Three Tales by Flaubert. I think a modern erotica will emerge from a retelling of the story of Abraham through the story of a bisexual guy who has a step-son. His psychologist will tell him it is okay to spank his son for misbehaving. I'm not sure how this relates, but it does.

Books aren't very popular around here, eh? :p

I'm currently reading Embassytown by China Mieville. Pretty awesome SF ideas of space travel and extraterrestrial languages but so far very little plot.

It just means I have to make up for everyones lack of love for reading books by reading more! I bought a bunch from the Goodwill near by and I hope I get as lucky with the titles. Some library in Texas probably thought a lot of the books were too edgy for them or the library closed. Someone got a hold of them in Minnesota and now they are MINE! Books are amazing!

Lou Reed: A Life, and Punk Rock: An Oral History

^^ OMG That's on the top of my favorite Sherlock Holmes stories! I hope you enjoy it!

Excellent Read
3erd time reading

If you really enjoy that novel, I highly recommend the Oxford anthology, VICTORIAN DETECTIVE STORIES. You'll have to get it used, but, hey, it's a fantastic read!

Thanks for that it is on order

I can make two more similar recommendations: Detection by Gaslight and The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes. The former is a Dover Anthology, the latter (and more interesting of the two) is an anthology of stories featuring Sherlock's rival detectives.
