So either you DID have knowledge of the operations and AGREED that very questionable activities of Bain and chose to not disassociate yourself OR you are incompetent at continuing as a board member. In the state investigation for Romney to run for Senate he testified that he returned to Mass for board meetings. That was to allow him to be eligible for residency requirement in Mass. So in that instance he wanted to be associated with the company located in Mass. Later he decided it wasn't politically expedient to be associated with Bain's actions.

i just don't know how you can have it both ways and not be called a pathological liar.

So this won't go away till someone falls on their sword for Romney. Someone is going to be prosecuted OR Romney is going to retract what he has said for years making him a liar forever. One of the two.

The real stupidity of his lie is that he kept getting his salary and went to board meetings. If you're not doing anything for a company on a leave of absence, why would the comp[any continue to pay a salary? And if you keep going to board meetings, how can you claim to not have anything to do with the company? The board is there to decide where the company is going, so the fact that Romney went to the meetings shows that he did have input; he was involved with the company and helping make decisions.

Or are we to believe he just stretched out in the corner and took a nap?

The only class warfare is what Romney wants, as a good Republican, to keep waging on the poor, raising taxes on them and the middle class in order to pay for more cuts for the wealthy.

There is no evidence anywhere to suggest that any cuts for the wealthy at this time will aid the economy in any way at all. There is plenty of evidence that raising taxes on everyone else will hurt the economy.

And meanwhile, besides wanting to turn the U.S. intro a third-world nation, Romney has been found to be lying about his involvement with Bain: he was still president, and thus legally in charge, and he still went to board meetings, so he was actively participating. That he wasn't listed as an investment advisor is irrelevant: he actively participated in the firm, which he keeps saying he didn't.

Was there fraud? I doubt it -- just sloppiness and getting paid an outrageous amount for warming a chair every now and then. But there was and continues to be dishonesty.


So we have "I can't tell the truth" Romney vs. "Who needs Congress?" Obama. I think the people should echo Ben Franklin's plaint when he asked the Almighty, "Couldn't you have sent us a pestilence?"

accusing Romney of fraud or lying (over this specific case) seems like a bit of a non-starter... whether that makes Romney morally responsible for anything Bain did while he wasn't actively involved but was still on the paperwork is a different question.

Heh, give me a break. Romney was the sole owner of Bain Capital till 2002. He only said he left in 1999 to avoid the appearance he had anything to do with his Chinese business that stole jobs from American workers.

Romney has always tried to have it both ways, taking both sides of every issue, this is just more evidence of that.
