Movie studio bosses have signed a deal to revive Matt Damon's amnesiac assassin character in a new series of hit action flick "The Bourne Identity".

The estate of late author Robert Ludlum has given exclusive rights to Universal Pictures for Damon's character, Jason Bourne.

The three series saga has grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.

Ludlam Entertainment Chairman-CEO Jeffrey Weiner tells Daily Variety, "Universal has done such an excellent job with the first three films that they deserve the opportunity to keep Jason Bourne at the studio forever."

Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass have already been signed to a fourth film, scheduled for theatre release in 2010.

Glad to hear there's another Bourne movie in the works.

I've seen all the Bourne movies. All of them have been great. The last one especially. Matt Damon is great in the role of Jason Bourne.

Looking forward to the next Bourne movie.

i love ALL the bourne movies! and i wont even cheat by watching it online or pirated dvds. its one of those movies where i dont mind paying ten bucks for.

ummmm...yes please! Just when you think Hollywood execs couldn't possibly get their heads any farther up their own ass, they make a decision like this! Great news!

The 3rd one brings it full circle - he finds out what he needs to know.

Love that the final shot of him floating in the river mirrors the opening shot of the first one... until he swims away.

Great trilogy.

Not sure about a 4th one though...

I loved the Bourne trilogy, but is a fourth one necessary? Like Matt said himself during an interview on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, what are they gonna call the next one, "The Bourne Redundancy"?
