Boycotting Britney

^ That's like determining what percentage of the American public is gay by doing an exit poll at churches on Sunday. I don't think Britney's core audience is made up of CNN.com fans.

I'm positive Britney's core addict fans are not readers of CNN.com. Probably never seen a news program in their lives. This sorry excuse for a new CD will probably sell hot for the first week then crash and burn like the rest of her career.

There are still flaming queens with no taste in music out there to worship at the bare dirty feet of Britney. :badgrin:

now . for the poll on CNN.COM .. thats retarted that means 13% of adults & older audiences are gonna get her cd. Her target audience is like 18-21 . or 14-28 or something like that..

all im trying to say is . if MOST , not all , of us loved her back then then why do we hate her so much now??? cuz she shaved her head ?? cuz she has a drinking problem?? ( i know if i had a friend or someone i really love . i wouldn't hate them because they have a drinking problem) or because shes made some bad parenting descisions ?? .... why does that makes us hate her or her MUSIC?????

ok this is really long lol but im just trying to get my point across . that u have to realize everything shes doig is either getting blown out of proportion or just getting publicity for no reason!

(although i do understand why u guys may hate her .... i love her & im behind every desicion she makes 100%)
 
OH, I don't hate HER..

I think she had a couple catchy singles.. maybe "hit me baby," "oops" and "Toxic." Past that I'm not really a fan. At all. I think that "Me against the music" song sounded like a computer that had crashed with smoke coming out the back and I think her new song is annoying.

But that just makes her a media whore who's tragic downfall is a lot more entertaining than the music ever was. Much like other media whores like Paris Hilton or Anna Nicloe Smith.. neither of them were good at anything.. neither was famous for anything but being a public embarrassment. That's kinda what Britney Spears is now... just fascinating for what a public disaster she is.

So I guess I like her now.. I enjoy train wrecks.

Which is it? I mean, I consider myself a huge Prince fan. I'd say without hesitation that I love Prince's music as a whole. But I'm most certainly not behind every decision he made. He's made some massively awful ones. And I don't know if it makes me selective, nitpicky, or just plain "not REALLY a fan", but I don't like absolutely every song he's put out. I have never EVER found a musical artist worth deifying, even on simply a musical level.

But that's where it gets interesting. I mean, I've got no problem with people slagging my favorite bands or songs. If you think Prince is a creepy little elf, and you can't stand "I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man", you ain't stepping on my tail any. I like it, you don't, so be it. But folks like you, iljt, seem a different breed. It's no longer "I like these songs by this artist". It becomes more of a club. With "members" (we love Britney!) and "non-members" ("haters"), and adherence to some code of conduct that would be curious for a major musical talent, but seems even more so for a pop songstress. But perhaps that's the point.

In 1999 no one cared about her personal life 'cuz she didn't have one yet.
She was just a barely-known teenager. Then she had some cute hit songs that suited her life up that point.

Now it's 2007 and she does have a personal life. She's a grown woman, twice-divorced with 2 kids. She still sings generic pop songs but now with slutty lyrics. Anyone that has to pay a rapper to call her "the legendary Britney Spears" in her own song is desperate.

Whether you are in the camp of "Britney the public embarassment" or "I'm behind her every decision 100%", most of us fall in the "she's just annoying" category. There are way too many real music artists to spend time & money on that this waste of a human.

Because some of us grow up and grow out of it. To me her songs sound exactly the same. They're all have the same beat. Her vocal range is not that great either.
That's why she never win any prestigious award like her peer Christina who has better range vocal wise.
Her public strange behavior does turn some poeple off though. Not the die hard fans of course. Like my friends who was once a big fan of her now don't want anything to do with her anymore.
Look at Jessica Simpson who is a better singer than Britney in my opinion didn't really do that good with her last CD. Her personal life kind of overshadowed her professional one. People would rather read the dirt about her than listening to her music. Why do you think Paris Hilton still around. That girl has no discernable talent whatsoever. Poeple just love to read dirt.

ok ... she is legendary no matter what u say .. Spears has sold over 83 million records worldwide according to Zomba Label Group ... & shes the eighth best selling female artist . shes been around for almost a decade . & her performances (excluding gimme more) have all been amazing & controversial! & also its not like that peformance at the VMAS was as bad a everyone made it... everyone made it seem she fell into the crowd or something .. it just wasnt an AMZING performance as her last ones


so if everyone can 85 million copies . make controverial performances . can be one of the greatest artists of all time .. & can stay around for almost a decade & still be the most talked about person .. then shes not a legend ...
 
I'd say she's legendary. Whether she ends up legendary like Aretha Franklin, legendary like Fabian, or legendary like Fatty Arbuckle remains to be seen. My money's on the middle horse.

hm.. not sure.

when I was in high school I loved all those in-yer-face girls. Madonna and Samantha Fox and Vanity.

But I don't think I'd have thought "It's Madonna, Bitch" would have been cool.

Of course I woudln't have liked reality shows, either. Maybe we used to like our sluts to show a BIT of decorum...
 
Samantha Fox had Full Force (or whoever was banging her that week) stuttering "Sa-Sa-Samantha Fox!" behind one of her big hits - "Naughty Girls Need Love Too", maybe? And we thought it was oh-so-cool then, but it's pretty damn silly now. Madonna did that inane phone conversation at the beginning of the "Material Girl" video so we'd know that she wasn't REALLY "impressed by expensive gifts". And tell me you don't either crack up laughing or cringe with embarrassment when you hear Vanity announce "I need seven inches or more".

Um.. that's not many people at all... looks like about 100 people.. maybe 150. A good midnight CD sale should have 1,000 people at least. That's just a smattering.

I remember the Madonna Music midnight sale we had in Toronto and we sold 1,200 copies in just over and hour on the first night.

And am I the only one who was kinda surprised at the nearly 100% fat girl/gay nerd quotient there? Who'd wanna be a Britney fan if THAT's what Britney fans are like?
