Brad's Search

Astare, an amazing update and definitely worth the wait! :-)

James really is a special guy he is an amazing and understanding guy. I can understand the hesitation Brad might have with not instantly saying yes to moving in with James. If I was in a similar situation I would have to think about it, I am in a similar situation with Brad as far as work and while I would love a relationship, not sure it would be the best time to start one, let alone move in with someone as well. That is definitley a big decision and something to think about. But you have to take a chance I guess, and James did say he is a patient guy especially if its for someone important to him.

Thank you! James is pretty fucking awesome, isn't he? You can almost tell from how calmly he handles things that he's probably seen lots of emotional turmoil, in others or in his own life. Almost like he's had enough experience to know most things aren't worth breaking up over. Brad doesn't know much about James's past yet, except for that one fling with Derek. There's probably much more hidden deep within that calm smile of his.

Work and other commitments can definitely stop a good relationship from happening. That's Brad's fear. He was never this busy before, so he has to really think about if he can juggle everything all at once. But you're right: the chance doesn't come often. Maybe he should just pounce on it.

Craiger I was thinking the same thing about Derek. I was wondering what he was going to do with this situation. Based on what we have seen I could see him trying to go to James to tell him what Brad and him had done, not knowing Brad already told him. Looking forward to how this starts to play out.

Derek has ratted Brad out before, when he saw Brad and Eric at the deli and thought Brad was cheating. James will probably ignore anything Derek says from now on, but that won't stop Derek from trying to interfere nonetheless. All we can do is wait and see what happens next.

Interesting I hadnt thought about intentionally leaving the details of the characters appearances, open for interpretation. I know I have created my thoughts on what they look like. I like the thought process behind that. I think that can allow the reader to make the story more personal, because like you mentioned they can create the characters apearance to fit what they find attractive.

Yeah, that advice I posted really spoke to me, and I decided to run with it. Also, since this started out as a screenplay and I had a cast in mind already, I didn't have to imagine how the characters looked - they already had real-life counterparts I could base them off of. And, here's a bit of trivia - James was not in the original screenplay! I didn't create that character until two revisions later. He was the only one I really had to think about as far as how he looked, but, again, how he looks to me is not really important. I leave it up to the reader to figure that out.

Part 31

I open my eyes to the sight of the sun shining brightly on the wall. I roll over to my left and see James looking at me with a subtle smile on his face. His smile fully forms, and he faintly whispers, "Hey."

"Hey. How long have you been awake?"

He rests his hand on my chest and idly plays with my nipples. "Just a few minutes. Sleep well?"

"Yeah, but I think I'd sleep better at your place. Your bed's a lot more comfortable."

"Well, move in with me and you can enjoy that every night if you'd like."

I look away and sigh. He quickly rubs my chest to get my attention. "I'm not putting any pressure on you. I just want you to be aware of all the advantages so you can make an informed decision."

I roll my eyes. "Oh, don't give me that; you just like my good looks and blowjobs."

"Yeah, so does Derek, apparently. Which, by the way, I'll have you know I'm a very romantic guy, and if we do get together, I'm going to want my Brad all to myself. And don't think you can blame it on the strong drinks either, mister."

"All right, I think I can do that."

"Think isn't good enough."

I sigh again. "OK, I know I can do that. And I will do that. May as well start practicing now."

"Only as long as it's something you want to do."

I think for a few seconds. "Yeah, I'm sure. I can't help it. I've been falling in love with you ever since that night at the bar. I really want to be with you, but I want to make sure I can commit to a relationship."

He begins caressing my cheek. "Don't worry, Brad. There's no rush. Take your time and be absolutely sure."

I smile. "OK. I will."

He smiles back. "Good." He returns his hand to my chest and plays with my chest hair. "So, I have a question for you."

"What is it?"

"All my Frisbee buddies usually go to the park to play on the weekend. Well, this weekend, they knew I was coming in town yesterday, so we planned for today. I was wondering if you'd like to join me and get to know the group."

I hesitate for a few seconds. "Is Derek in the group?"

He chuckles. "No, he's not."

"Good, because that would just be kind of awkward. Anyway, yeah, that sounds like fun! Plus, I could use some time outdoors."

"Great! I pretty much came straight here from the airport, so I still have my suitcase in the car. I'll just run out and grab some clothes."

He whips the sheet off of his body and gets out of bed. He bends down to pick up his briefs and pants, giving me a great view of his ass and balls from behind. Oh boy; I better be ready to commit to that ass, and quickly! I'd hate to lose it.

He pulls on his briefs and pants, then heads for the door. I get out of bed and follow him.

"You do know how cold it is outside, right?"

"Yeah, but I'll only be out for a few seconds. How bad could it be?"

He opens the door, shirtless and barefoot, and runs to his car as I watch from the doorway. Clouds of fog emanate from his mouth and nostrils. He opens his trunk and rummages quickly through his suitcase, pulling out a jacket and pants, among other things.

He turns to me. "Got an extra toothbrush I can borrow?"

"Yeah! Get your ass back here before you freeze to death!"

He runs back inside, clothes in hand, and shuts the door. I rub my hands vigorously on his chest and torso to warm him up. "Damn, your nipples are hard!"

"So hard they could cut glass!"

We both laugh. I grab his clothes and toss them to the couch. I turn and lower my head level to his chest and lash each of his nipples with my tongue.

He leans his head back and moans in pleasure. "Damn! Your tongue is like fire!" He revels in the stimulation for a few seconds, then gently pushes me back. "I hate to stop you, because that feels so amazing, but we need to shower and be on our way."

We head to the bathroom and I turn on the water. We step in and take a pretty quick shower. We get out and dry off, and then I rummage under the sink and find a spare, unopened toothbrush. We finish getting ready, head to the bedroom, and get dressed.

"Brad, do you have anything to make a quick breakfast?"

I think for a second. "Eggs, toast, bagels-"

"A bagel sounds good. Can you make one for me before we head out?"

"Sure."

I toast two bagels, one for each of us. We eat them quickly, then head outside, get in his car, and head for Volunteer Park.

He squeezes my knee. "And to think, we're going to the place we first met just over a month ago."

"Has it really been just a month? I've been through so much, it feels like it's been much longer."

"I know what you mean."

On the way, I text Gary: I told him. Everything's fine.

He texts back: Phew! That's a relief. I'm happy for you!

We get to the park pretty quickly. Not much traffic on Sunday. We get out and see a group already tossing a Frisbee around.

It's a really beautiful day. A cool wind blows from the north, but the sun shines down on us, otherwise keeping us comfortably warm. I notice a few people walking and running laps around the park. I wish for the rest of the year to be like today, though I know in my head that will never happen.

James points to the group in the distance. "That's them." We begin heading towards the group. As we get closer, they stop tossing the Frisbee and turn to face us.

James greets the guys. "Hey guys; sorry I'm late. I want you to meet my friend, Brad." James then introduces me to the group. "This is Hadim, Charles, and Freddie."

I go up and shake hands with each of the guys. "Hey everyone. I hope I can remember everyone's name."

Charles turns to James. "James, you got any nametags?"

James chuckles. "No, but Brad's pretty smart; I'm sure he'll have your names down in no time. Where are Patrick and Damon, by the way?"

Hadim answers James's question. "They couldn't make it out today. They're in Portland visiting Patrick's parents. All the planning for the wedding is almost finished."

I turn to James. "They're getting married?"

"Yeah. Patrick and Damon have been together for almost 8 years. They came to Dad's law firm a few months ago to start getting things arranged, and that's when I met them."

Charles then asks, "When is their wedding again?"

James looks upward and counts to three with his fingers. "Three weeks from now, on the third of February. You did get an invitation, right?"

Charles answers, "Yeah. Hadim and I will be there. I knew it was coming up soon; just didn't remember the exact day. What about you?"

James nods. "Yeah, I'll be there, too, though I'll have to update my RSVP to include a guest." He looks at me and winks.

Freddie speaks up, "So you guys are boyfriends?"

James answers, "Not yet, but hopefully that changes soon."

Freddie remarks, "Great; I'll be the only single guy again."

Hadim lightly jabs Freddie with his elbow. "Don't worry, Freddie; we'll find you a nice girl."

James turns to me. "Hey Brad, don't you have a friend who's newly single again?"

"Yeah, you're thinking of Harry."

"Well maybe Freddie and Harry should meet and start a straight singles support group."

Freddie crosses his arms. "How about we toss around some Frisbee instead?"

All of us voice our agreement. We each spread apart about fifteen to twenty feet from one another and toss the Frisbee around. It's been a long time since I've done this, so I sometimes have to run to catch it, and sometimes I throw it too far or not far enough. I apologize every time I mess up, but the guys don't seem to mind.

After about twenty minutes of tossing the Frisbee around, we stop and gather closely. Hadim, Charles, and Freddie have to head home.

James remarks, "I should be getting home soon, too. I still have to unpack and get ready for work tomorrow."

Freddie turns to me. "It was good meeting you, Brad."

"I'm glad to have met you guys, too. You seem like a fun group."

Charles remarks, "We are. We're glad you and James are getting to know each other. It's been some time since he's been in a happy relationship."

James quips, "Yeah, well, Freddie, you're next."

We all chuckle. Hadim then waves to the group. "Well, we should get going. Hope to see you around again, Brad."

I say back to him, "I think you will."

We exchange our goodbyes, then James and I turn around and head to his car.

"Your friends are pretty nice. How did you all meet?"

"Well, the three you just met today, plus Patrick and Damon, all knew each other before they met me. Patrick and Damon came to my dad's law firm to explore their marriage options and figure out health care directives, living wills, that sort of thing, right around when the governor signed the marriage bill into law, but before it was put on a referendum. I was the one who helped them out with pretty much everything, and they were really happy with all the work I did for them. They invited my dad and me out to dinner and we just became really good friends."

"And you were serious about wanting me to go with you to the wedding?"

"Of course! Only if you'd like to, that is."

I take James's hand in mine. "Yeah, I think I'd like that."

"Good; I'm glad you're coming with me. Anyway, the whole group has been getting together in Volunteer Park to play Frisbee, and I started joining them on the occasional weekend. Had it not been for them, you and I may have never run into each other."

I look at him. "You say the most profound things, James Briscoe."

He looks at me and smiles. "I can't help it."

We reach his car, get inside, and start to head back to my place. James places his hand on my upper thigh, and I place my hand on his.

We arrive at my place, and James turns to me. "Brad, think about what I said earlier, about you maybe moving in with me. I'd love to have you come live with me."

"I promise I'll give it some thought this week."

"Good."

He leans toward me and we kiss.

I start to get out, then hesitate. "You want me to grab your clothes from last night and bring them out to you?"

"Nah, don't worry about it. I have more than enough to last me. I'll come by another day and grab them."

"OK. I'll see you later."

"Take care, Brad."

I step out and head inside. As I watch him pull out and drive away, I imagine being in his car and heading to what could become my future home. The idea excites me, but my logical, rational mind reminds me I've barely known him a month, and that things seem to be moving really quickly. I certainly have a lot of thinking to do.

Nice update, good to finally meet some of James friends. They seemed like good guys. I agree with how calm James is it does seem like he has possible experienced a lot. Then based on Charles remark about "its been some time since he has been in a happy relationship". would like to hear more about this, and the story behind that. I like that James did go ahead tell Brad that if he does move in and they become boyfriends he expects a monogamous relationship, and he could pull a similar thing like he did with Derek.

It will be interesting to find out when and how Derek shows up agian. Will it go well, will it be trouble? Good questions to look forward to. Something to also keep in mind is the detail of him showing a bit of jealousy while him and Brad were in the gym and talking about James and Brad's relationship. Also that Derek asked to call Brad later, would like to see how that turns out if/when he calls him.

I like that Brad is taking the consideration of moving in with James seriouly, and considering a lot of the aspects that go into that decision. (not that I don't think he is a rational person)

good update :)

Nice that Brad will put some thought to moving in with James .. but i also think he's smart not wanting to rush things...

It was good meeting the guys at the park. It's obvious that James has a dedicated support group just like Brad. The idea of Brad going to the wedding may be the turning point in his decision. Emotionally speaking, that can be a very tender and loving time and he will see how a relationship with James can bring the same fulfillment for him. The commitment he has toward his job plus the commitment he may make with James obviously can put pressure and stress on him, but life isn't always a smooth running romance. It will take love and maturity to make the correct decision. I feel Brad has grown in just this short period of time and with the support from Gary and James he will find the proper answers. Great update, AG.

Like my fellow readers, totally committed to the story and look so forward to every chapter. Found it somewhat ironical when Brad characterizes his thought process as "logical and rational." I can remember not so many days ago when he was totally devoid of either trait! Well AG, you threw me a minor curve in my mental image of Brad - I pictured him as smooth chested with little body hair. Now I know that he has chest hair so I'm going to have to amend my mental image a bit. I'll adjust.

Oh, I'm sure we'll get deep down inside James - and I don't mean just physically!

I also think James should be commended for being up front and setting some rules should Brad say yes to them getting together. I find it's best getting all that on the table so everyone's aware.

Good ideas for future parts! I'm sure we'll see most, if not all of those, play out.

good update :)

I find it's best to take time and think things through - mostly. Relationships can be a totally different animal. If one waits too long, that person they're falling in love with may move, get together with someone else, or, heaven forbid, die. OK, maybe that's a little too morbid. The circumstances are definitely different when dealing with other people.

Brad's kind of getting thrust into James's life, and quickly. The same day he met his friends, here he is being invited to one of their weddings. He'll have to figure out where he lies in all of this new territory. I agree that Brad has definitely grown up and changed a lot. Here's hoping he finds all the answers he's searching for.

Heh. I'm sure all of us have pretty clear heads most of the time, but in the heat of the moment, rationality can fly out the window. Sorry for the curve ball - but guys can either be totally overgrown in chest hair or keep theirs neatly trimmed. I hope you're able to find a happy medium. :-)

The next part has arrived! Enjoy!!!

Part 32

I wake up and get ready for work. I decide to forgo my usual morning run and instead head into work early, hoping to catch Eric. Luckily, he's in his office when I get there.

"Good morning, Brad. Why are you here so early?"

"Hey Eric. I was hoping to talk to you for a minute."

"Sure, anytime. Sit down. What's going on?"

I sit down and take a deep breath. "It's James."

Eric sits there, patiently waiting for me to continue.

"He asked me to move in with him."

"Oh Brad, that's wonderful!"

"And to be his boyfriend."

He waits a few more seconds. "Well, what did you say?"

"I told him I still wasn't sure I could handle a relationship and a demanding job at the same time."

Eric hangs his head down.

"What's wrong, Eric?"

He lifts his head up and looks at me. "Brad, how important is James to you?"

"Very important. Even though we haven't known each other long, his coming into my life is probably the best thing that's ever happened to me. I just know how many obligations I have with my job. I don't think I could choose between-"

Eric holds his hand up to silence me. "Who said anything about choosing between James and your job?"

I'm silent for a few seconds, then Eric continues, "I guess I was lucky to have already been together with Lorna when I started. But, I do understand how important relationships are to people. They make people happy - well, most of the time."

I nod in agreement.

Eric continues, "Remember at the deli when I told you how Rick helped me out and covered some of my workload so that I could be with Lorna when she was pregnant?"

"Yeah."

"He instilled in me the philosophy that our personal lives and happiness are more important than work. Not a lot of companies believe that, but ours does. If James is as important to you as you say he is, we'll give you all the time you need to make sure you are able to devote the time and energy to him."

"Really?"

"Yeah. We certainly don't want to lose you. You're a great asset to us, and you're fantastic at what you do. We want you to be happy, and if that means taking a day or two here or there so you feel you can be a good boyfriend, partner, husband, or whatever to James, we'll make that happen."

I breathe a sigh of relief. "Eric, can I give you a hug?"

He laughs. "Sure."

We stand up and hug each other tightly. I say to him, mid-hug, "Thank you."

"You're welcome."

We break the hug.

* * * * *

Work hums along as usual the rest of the day. Right before I leave, I text Gary: Cooters?

A few seconds later, he texts back: Hell yeah! Let's go straight there when you get off work.

I chuckle, then text back: You can head straight there, but I'll head gaily there, thank you very much.

He texts back: Smartass. :-)

Time comes to leave work, and I head to Cooters. I meet Gary and Harry outside, and we go in, order beers, and find a table.

"He asked me to move in with him."

Gary and Harry both look surprised. Gary speaks up. "Wow, that's great!"

Harry goes next, "You said 'yes', right?"

"I told him I'd think about it."

Harry, completely shocked by my answer, practically yells, "What the hell is there to think about?"

"I want to make sure I have enough time and energy for a relationship. It's hard with how demanding my job is. Just look at how much less we're hanging out. Eric says he'll help out with a little time off here and there, but I don't think that'll be enough."

Gary shakes his head. "Read my lips. James - will - understand - if - you - get - busy - from - time - to - time."

I cross my arms on the table, contemplating.

Gary continues, "Bradley Michael Palovich, do I need to call your mother and have her harass and harangue you?"

I take a deep breath. "You guys better be right about this."

Harry anxiously asks, "So, that's a yes?"

I nod. "It's a yes."

Gary and Harry start clapping in excitement, and soon the rest of Cooters joins in the applause. The three of us look around, utterly confused.

"I guess I'll call James tonight and give him the good news."

Gary pats me on the shoulder. "You made the right decision, Brad. You and James are just right for each other. You'll see."

* * * * *

I return home and pull out my phone to call James. I'm more nervous than I've ever been, and I'm not sure why.

He picks up. "Hey Brad. How's your night going?"

"Pretty good, and yours?"

"Doing OK, I guess. What's up?"

"Well, I've been doing lots of thinking, and-"

"Yes?"

"-I would be delighted to move in with you and be your boyfriend."

"Awesome! That's so good to hear! I thought you'd never say 'yes'."

"Never?"

"Well, at least not for a while."

"I just needed a little bit of reassurance to know this is the right decision. I know I have a demanding job, and I wanted to make sure that I can devote enough time for us."

"Don't worry about that, Brad. I know things get busy from time to time. Hell, we've been slammed at the law firm lately, and it's worse now that we're all back in town from being away for a week. But I'm sure you and I will be happy together despite all that."

"Me too. I think I'm really ready for this step."

"So your lease is up next month?"

"Yeah. After the first full week of February."

"Wow, so we don't have a lot of time to get you moved out."

"It'll probably only take one, maybe two weekends at the most, to get it all out."

"Well, how about we start this weekend, and we'll have more time if it takes longer than we expect."

"Yeah, that sounds like a good plan."

"Great. I'm so thrilled we're taking this next step together."

"Me too."

We say our goodbyes and hang up. Work and everything else has exhausted me mentally and emotionally, so I take a quick shower to relax and crawl into bed. I glance to my right and notice the underwear and jeans that James left, and then I get a very naughty idea.

I walk over to his clothes, dig out his briefs, and feel them in my hands for a bit. They're made of this smooth, cool fabric. I glance at the tag and see that they're moisture-wicking. I lift them up to my face and breathe in.

My cock instantly becomes rock hard as I inhale his musky man scent: the result of hours of sitting on a plane thousands of feet in the air. His briefs have captured that scent perfectly. I lie back down on the bed, holding his briefs in one hand and my cock in the other, and begin pleasuring myself. I inhale deeply again, and then wrap his underwear around my cock. The material feels great against my erection. I move his briefs up and down, giving myself even more pleasure as they slide against my cock. I feel myself getting close to orgasm, so I lift his briefs to my face, take in his scent one last time, and reach orgasm.

I walk to the bathroom, clean myself up, and then crawl back into bed. Before I fall asleep, I imagine myself in James's huge condo, sitting next to him in front of the fireplace, and look forward to when that becomes a reality.

I knew I liked Eric...he is an awesome boss. Its amazing how he has been such a big help to Brad and James relationship, and yet James doesnt even know this I think. Then Also to Gary and Harry, they are some awesome friends. Glad he made the decision to move in with James.

I must agree with all the above. It has been a twist of fate that has brought Brad and James together and even though it's only been a month, the chemistry is there. With such support from Eric, Gary and Harry, Brad can't go wrong. It will be fun getting to know James better as this relationship blossoms. His past is still that mystery needing to be solved. Do I hear wedding bells......................

Thanks Harry - I'm vindicated!

Brad has a great support group. They all want to see him happy - really, what more could you ask for?

Happy to read that Brad said yep to both 'boyfriends' and moving in
can't wait to read the next part(s) :)

Brand new adventures await! I'm glad you'll keep reading. :-)

Lots of unfortunate events are blessings in disguise. And you're right that the chemistry is there, only though they've known each other just one month. Love knows no bounds and no time. There's no rulebook saying when the time is right - it's up to each person, the situation, and the circumstances. We definitely know a lot about Brad, but there is still a lot about James we're not privy to. I'm sure we'll find out all about it as time rolls on...

Hey all! Sorry I didn't get this part posted earlier than I would have liked, but it's all ready to go now! Enjoy!

Part 33

I wake up the next day and head into work. I tell Eric that I said yes to James's proposition. He congratulates me and pats me on the shoulder.

The rest of the week goes smoothly. Throughout the week I've been gathering things together to make the move easier. My landlady has said she found someone to finish out my lease and move in, and that he's interested in buying the rest of my big furniture.

Friday rolls around, and I commandeer Gary and Harry to help me move. They and James show up after I get home on Friday and help load the cars with mostly small things. We manage to get everything except my computer and office furniture into the cars. We all drive to James's condo, and Gary and Harry get their first look at my soon-to-be home.

Gary and Harry just stand there in silence for a few seconds. Harry then says, "Wow, Brad, this is what you were talking about? I would have said 'yes' much sooner!"

Gary then quips, "Yeah. This is almost enough to make me break up with Gina, turn gay, and steal James away from you. Almost."

James then wraps his arm around my shoulder. "Sorry boys." He then plants a huge kiss on my cheek.

I spend the night at James's - well, our - place. James and I head back to my old place the next morning to move my office furniture and computer. Turns out his friend Freddie has a pick-up truck, and is more than happy to let us borrow it to help move the big furniture. I don't know how we did it, but we got all of my belongings out of my old place in just one weekend, and it's pretty much ready to move in for the next tenant. All that moving has made us pretty tired, though. We barely have enough energy to head up the stairs, take off our shoes, and plop down on the bed, but we manage.

After about an hour, I stir awake from my nap. I look to my left; James is still peacefully asleep. I decide not to wake him, and instead head downstairs to have a look around.

Some things have changed since I first saw the place two weeks ago. Next to the stairs by the kitchen is a walkway that leads to a secluded area. James had used this area for storage, but he has since cleared it away. He and I haven't discussed it yet, but that area would be great for my office; it would allow me to concentrate, and the area would generally be undisturbed, which is great because I sometimes have files and notes all over the place. I think he had that idea in mind when he cleared it out.

I walk to the large, open living area and take a look at the photographs on the mantle of the fireplace. One photograph is of a much younger-looking James with what I presume to be his parents. There is another photograph which I can tell was taken more recently than the first, but only James and his father are pictured.

"Admiring me during my younger years?"

I look to my right. James has woken up and joined me downstairs.

"Yeah. You and your parents look so beautiful in these pictures. Those are your parents, right?"

"Thanks, and yes, that's them."

I point to the second photograph. "Where's your mom in this picture?"

James hesitates for a few seconds, then says, "I guess it's time you knew something."

I blankly stare at him for a few seconds. He then sits down on the couch and taps the cushion beside him, prompting me to sit there.

James sighs quickly and looks up at the ceiling. "My mom passed away just a few years ago."

"Oh James, I'm so sorry to hear that."

He gives me a half-smile. "Thanks. She died of a heart attack. She had just made it past her 50th birthday. All the warning signs were there, though. Throughout my childhood, she was a heavy drinker and smoker, and I mean heavy. Some days the house reeked so badly of smoke that my brother and I just stayed in our bedroom because that was the one room in the house that smelled the best."

"You have a brother?"

"Yeah. He's about two years older than me."

I hesitate for a few seconds. "Can I ask you something?"

"You can ask me anything you want, Brad. Nothing's off the table."

"I don't see your brother in any of those photos, and you hadn't mentioned him until now. What's the story behind that?"

James takes a deep breath. "After I came out, remember how I said my parents weren't quite the most accepting people?"

I nod. James continues, "Well, my brother had an even worse reaction. He had a girlfriend at the time, and they eventually married, but at the time, he got extremely righteous and was convinced I was living in sin. My parents were religious and brought us up in church. I eventually came to dismiss all of it, but he ate it up, and he really went to town when I came out."

"Yikes. Where is he now?"

"Oh, still married with kids, out in the Midwest somewhere. He said some pretty nasty things to me back then, and I haven't quite had the motivation to forgive him yet. I've just put it all in the back of my mind and haven't given it much thought."

"Do you ever want to be on speaking terms with him again?"

"You know, at this point, I don't think I would lose anything if I never spoke to him again. It's been so long that I hardly feel any emotion at all. I don't know - ever since then, I've been able to push it to the back of my mind, and I hardly ever think about him now."

There is silence for a few seconds, then James continues, "Anyway, getting back to my mother: After she had died, Dad and I looked at her family history, and we saw a large number of deaths due to heart attack and a strong history of heart disease. Of course, her smoking and drinking didn't help matters any. So now, I get my cholesterol checked often, make sure I eat right, and try not to drink too much. And I definitely don't smoke."

I place my hand on his knee. "Good. I want my boyfriend here for a long time."

He leans in and we kiss. As we pull away, he says, "I don't know about you, but all that moving has made me hungry."

"Me too."

"I've been craving an olive and mushroom pasta, with a fuckload of cheese."

"That sounds absolutely heavenly."

He gives me a quick peck, then says, "I'll get right on it."

He hops up, goes to the kitchen, begins boiling a pot of water, and gathers the rest of the ingredients.

"Is there anything I can help you with?"

"Can you chop up the mushrooms and olives?"

"Sure."

I begin searching for the knives. He points to the drawer all the way to the right, "In there." I find the exact knife I'm looking for and begin chopping the mushrooms and olives.

He adds a pinch of salt and about a quart of olive oil to the water. "So, now that you know about my mother, can I ask a bit about your father?"

"I guess that's only fair."

The water begins to boil, and James adds in the pasta. "Well, I remember you saying he was in the Air Force and flew helicopters."

"Yeah. He actually died in flight - from what I've been told."

James tilts his head to the side and waits for me to continue.

"This all happened about six years ago. While he was flying, some electrical problem occurred and the engine just up and quit. They were around all kinds of mountains, so it was pretty much impossible to make a good emergency landing. They ended up crashing, and no one survived."

A tear begins forming. James walks over to me and hugs me tightly. We pull away and he holds my arms with his hands. I continue, "The last time I saw him was at my college graduation, back when Mom and I still lived in Denver. He told me how proud he was of me. His leave ended the day after, and that was the last time that Mom and I saw him."

"I can tell he was very important to you."

"He was, though I hardly knew him that well because he was out on assignment so much. Rather than uproot his whole family every time he got deployed, he felt it was best that Mom and I stay put in Denver so I could have as much of a stable childhood as possible. He was out in far reaches of the world anyway, so all of us living together would not have been practical. His death really hit Mom the worst, though, because they spent so much time together before he was always out on assignments."

"Any brothers or sisters?"

"Nope."

"So you're all your mom has left."

"That's right."

"Well, I can certainly imagine how tough that can be for her."

"She's a strong woman. She's been amazing through this whole process."

"She certainly sounds like a strong woman. But I'm glad she has you in her life, too."

He stirs the pasta while I finish chopping the mushrooms and olives.

I turn to James. "Were you serious about taking a trip down to Denver to meet her?"

"Of course! I'd love to meet her."

"Good, because I know this for sure: I will be so ready to take a vacation by the time this project at work is over."

James chuckles. "I know the feeling. How long would you want to spend there?"

"I was thinking around a week. Will you be able to get that time off at the law firm?"

"Oh yeah, that won't be a problem at all. Now if I were an actual attorney, it would be a different story. But luckily Dad hasn't pushed me into getting a law degree yet."

James fishes out a piece of pasta and tastes it. "It's ready, mon chéri!"

I give James a funny look. "Yeah, that's exactly the expression I would have used after cooking an Italian dish. But you are the chef."

He quips back, "I may be the chef, but you're doing a damn good job serving up the side dish of sarcasm."

I smile and nod.

* * * * *

Dinner is exquisite. I never thought I'd love that combination of pasta, mushrooms, and olives.

James gathers up the dishes and walks to the sink. "I'll have to make that again sometime, eh?"

"How about tomorrow?"

He chuckles. "Sure, I just have to drop by the market to grab the ingredients fresh."

"Ah, that's why it tastes so good!"

"What, you thought a five-star chef like me would buy any old thing that's been sitting in a can on the shelf? Blasphemy!"

"Oh gosh, sorry, I beg for your forgiveness."

He places his finger on my lips to stifle my sarcasm.

"So, market tomorrow?"

"Yeah."

"Good. I've been dying to try this dish with sun-dried tomatoes but haven't found a good seller yet. Hopefully my luck will turn around tomorrow."

"Well, my luck for my entire life has turned around since we ran into each other."

James grabs me by the arms. "Oh, what a sweet thing to say! Come here." He plants a huge kiss on my lips.

I yawn. "That nap sure helped, but I'm pretty tired again. How about we call it a night?"

James winks at me. "Sure thing, cutie."

We walk upstairs, strip off all of our clothes, and crawl under the sheets. James wraps his arms around me, and it's not too long before we fall asleep.

I would say, "another romantic evening at home", but the interjection of James' mom and brother plus Brad's father toned it down a little. It's good to see they are sharing some of their past and I'm sure more will come later. The pasta sounds good..... now I'm hungry.

Glad to hear they are opening up to each other about their pasts. I am anxious to see how them moving in together will allow them to get to know each other that much better. I like how they are sort of planning a trip already to go meet Brad's mom. That should me nice trip. Craiger I agree that pasta does sound really good.

Hey boys (and girls)! If you were all antsy today after waiting for the next part over the weekend, I'm sorry to tell you I fell off the wagon, so to speak. This weekend kept me busy, and I couldn't find time to write. However, I'll get back to writing today or tomorrow and should have something to post soon.

Sometimes life and its drama gets in the way, huh? However, we know no life is perfect - everyone's got wounds and scars, and it takes a strong person sometimes to open up and share them. Hopefully everyone can find a way to heal.

I'm getting excited for their first big trip together, too. Trips can be a sure-fire way for you to know if you're compatible with someone else - being stuck in a car or a plane next to another person will show you most of what you need to know. :-)

Hey everyone! I'm getting this next part out later than I thought, but better late than never. Thanks for sticking around and reading. Enjoy!

Part 34

I wake up to the delicious scent of eggs. I hoist myself up and look to my left; James must be doing the cooking. I go to the bathroom, then pull on a pair of running shorts and head downstairs.

"Mornin', cutie!" James stands at the stove, completely naked, and flips an egg. "I'm almost finished cooking and was about to bring you breakfast in bed."

I chuckle. "Screw breakfast; how about I fuck you right here on this counter?"

James laughs. "I wouldn't want these eggs to get overcooked." He moves the eggs from the pan onto two plates and starts frying some strips of bacon.

"Damn, and I was hoping for some sausage to go with my eggs and bacon."

I turn around and glance outside; the sun's bright rays reflect off of Lake Union. It's certainly a pretty day to head to the market. I turn back around and watch James as he fries the bacon. "So, you don't think it's dangerous to be cooking with your dick fully exposed like that?"

"Nah, not when I'm cooking eggs and bacon." He walks to the pantry and pulls out an apron. "Now when I'm working with the really greasy stuff, I throw this on." He then puts on the apron and ties the strings behind his back. He turns around and gives me a show. The apron leaves his ass exposed, but it protects all the other parts that would otherwise be in the line of fire.

He turns off the fire and moves the bacon to the plates with the eggs. He takes both plates, places one in front of me, and one beside me. "I hope you like your eggs over easy."

"That's my favorite way to eat eggs. How'd you know?"

"Lucky guess."

He takes off the apron, hangs it back up in the pantry, and joins me at the island counter.

I glance down at his cock. "Maybe I can have sausage with my eggs and bacon."

He pinches my cheek. "Only if you're a good boy and eat all your breakfast."

Needless to say, I ate all my breakfast.

* * * * *

We hop out of the shower, get dressed, and head outside to his car. We get in and start heading south toward Pike Place Market.

When we get going down Aurora, James rests his hand on my knee. "So, when will you be done with your humongous, gigantic project at work?"

"Based on how things are going, most likely mid-to-late April."

"You don't even have an exact date yet?"

"Nope. We won't know for sure until near the end. We aim to finish ahead of schedule just in case something happens with implementation - and usually something always happens. With so many different parts needing to work together, it's almost impossible not to overlook something."

"I see. I just wanted to get a rough idea, you know, to let Dad and the rest of the firm know when I'll be out. Getting the time off won't be a problem, but as a courtesy, I want to let them know as soon as I can."

"I'll try to get some dates down soon. As soon as I have a better idea, I'll let you know."

We drive through the tunnel and take the exit. I pat James's upper thigh. "Can we park close to the Starbucks so I can run in and grab a cup of coffee?"

James looks at me and snorts. "You are such an addict."

I look down. "I know."

He squeezes my knee. "That's OK; I am, too."

We park along the street and head to Starbucks. I pay for and get our drinks, and then we walk out and into the main market area. We walk past all the florists. "Is this where you got my flowers the day you got back from New York?"

"Sure is. We like to have fresh flowers at the firm and we always buy them from this one particular florist. She gives us a nice discount since we're such frequent customers. But we're not here for flowers today."

We reach the farmers' area of the market and take a look at all of their wares. They have every kind of food one can imagine.

James approaches a seller who has a variety of jarred foods at his table. "Excuse me, sir; do you have any sun-dried tomatoes?"

The seller rifles through his collection and lifts up a jar. "Of course. These were harvested in season, dried, and preserved with olive oil. Lasts a whole year, and tastes especially delicious."

James glances at me. "Whatcha think?"

I shrug. "You're the chef."

James turns to the seller and nods. "We'll take them."

"Wonderful!"

They complete the transaction. We walk around to a few other sellers and James stocks up on more pasta, olives, mushrooms, and some other ingredients. We make our way back to the car.

"Have you told your mom that you moved in with me?"

I gasp. "Shit! No, I haven't. She doesn't even know we're together."

"Well, you better give her a call on the way back."

I grab my phone out of my pocket and dial Mom. As it's ringing, we reach the car and get in. James starts the car and we're on our way. Mom picks up.

"Hello, baby boy!"

"Hey Mom. How's it going down there in Denver?"

"Oh, same old, same old. How about yourself? Much more exciting than down here, I hope."

"It's all right. I do have some good news to tell you, though. Remember when I told you about James?"

"Oh, yes, I remember him."

"Well, we're together now. I just moved in with him this weekend."

"Brad, that's so exciting! Any chance I'll get to meet this one?"

"Very funny, Mom. Actually we are thinking of taking a trip to Denver together after my big project at work is finished."

"That sounds wonderful! It would be so nice to see you and to meet James."

"He's sitting right next to me; do you want to say 'Hi' to him?"

"Sure, put him on."

I hand the phone to James.

"Hi Sharon." He chuckles. "Well, thank you!" After a few seconds, he laughs. "No, we haven't had a chance yet, but maybe we will soon." After a few more seconds, he says, "It was great talking to you, too. Here's Brad." He hands the phone back to me.

"Mother, what did you say to him?"

I hear a sinister laugh. "Oh, nothing dear. You boys take it easy and let me know when you're thinking of coming in."

"I will, Mom. I love you."

"I love you, too."

I hang up. I look at James. "What did she tell you?"

James laughs. "Well, first she complimented me on my deep, manly voice. Then she asked if she would be getting any grandkids soon, if you know what I mean."

I groan and shake my head.

* * * * *

We get home after a day full of shopping. I watch as the sun sinks closer and closer to the horizon. James heads into the kitchen and starts cooking. When dinner's all ready to eat, we head to the table.

I take a bite. "Wow! This is really good with the tomatoes!"

James nods in agreement. "I'm glad I tried adding them in. I'll have to do that from now on."

After we take a few more bites, James continues, "So, I was thinking of cooking salmon tomorrow for dinner."

"That sounds good. It was so delicious last time you made it for me. I'd love to try it again."

"Great. I was also thinking of inviting a guest."

"Who would that be?"

"My father."

I sit up, surprised. "He wants to meet me?"

"Of course he does. I've mentioned you at the office and he's excited that I'm together with someone. He said he wants to meet you soon, so I figured the three of us could get together tomorrow night. As long as you're OK with it, that is."

"Yes, I'm OK with it - I guess I just wasn't expecting to meet him so soon."

"Don't worry; he'll love you."

We finish up dinner and I take the plates to the sink and start washing them. James heads upstairs, lights a few candles, and begins getting undressed. I join him upstairs as soon as the dishes are clean. He's only gotten as far as taking off his shirt.

I walk up to him and run my hands up and down his torso. I lean in and kiss him. He runs his hands underneath my shirt and lifts it over my head and tosses it to the floor.

He caresses my face. "My, my - you're being quite sensual tonight."

"I can't help it when I have the sexiest boyfriend on the planet."

"Well then, let's get you out of these pants."

He undoes my belt, unzips my pants, and pushes them gently to the floor. We kiss once more, and then he runs his tongue up to my ears and nibbles on them a bit. He kisses his way down my neck to my nipples, and lashes them with his tongue. He wraps his hands around my backside and massages my ass. He keeps kissing down to my navel, then runs his tongue all the way up my torso, chest, and neck, until he reaches my lips and we throw ourselves into a very passionate, fluid-exchanging kiss.

He runs his tongue down to my navel again and kneels on the floor in front of me. He begins lashing my cock through my underwear with his tongue. He grabs my ass and pulls me towards him. He moves his head underneath my balls and licks them through my underwear as well. He reaches his hand inside the fly of my briefs, pulls my cock out, and engulfs it in his mouth.

I reach my hand around the back of his head and guide his movements. I see him reach down to his own belt, undo it, and pull his cock out of his pants. He continues blowing me for a minute or two, then pushes me gently onto the bed. He hooks his fingers under the waistband of my briefs and pulls them to the floor. He stands up, pushes his own jeans and underwear to the floor, then climbs on top of me.

He kisses me and looks into my eyes. "Are you enjoying having me as a boyfriend so far?"

"Absolutely. It's such a breath of fresh air being together with you."

"Likewise."

We kiss for a few more seconds, and then I guide him into a lying-down position. I kiss his neck and nipples, then move further down his body and take his stiff erection into my mouth. I reach my hand behind his leg and lightly finger him and play with his balls. He grabs my lower body, guiding me into a 69 position, and takes my cock inside his mouth. The sensation of sucking someone off while being sucked off at the same time is like no other.

I hear his nasal moans of pleasure and know his orgasm is not far off. Just knowing that gets me closer. I grip his cock in my hand and stroke it along with the movements of my mouth. His legs tense up as he thrusts into me and begins spurting ropes of cum in my mouth. A great dessert to a great dinner.

As his orgasm subsides, mine gets closer and closer until he pushes me over the edge. I moan in ecstasy as my own orgasm begins. He takes and swallows all of my cum, leaving no mess behind. We lie in post-orgasmic bliss for a few minutes, and then I turn around and lie next to him. Our lips meet and we kiss.

We pull away, and James looks into my eyes. "I'm so happy you're in my life, Brad."

"Me, too, James. I love you."

"I love you, too."

James gets up to blow out the candles, then joins me again in the bed. We kiss once more, then crawl under the sheets. It's a pretty cold night. He wraps me in his arms and holds me tight, keeping me warm.

I don't think I could be any happier.

Amazing update.....I would definitely say after reading that romantic and passionate night, it was worth the wait! :D That just sounded like a nice day all the way around. I myself really enjoy markets like they went to, can always find such good food and people. It adds that much more to the food when you cook with it also. Speaking of which all of the food that James has cooked so far sounds so good.

I can't wait for the introduction of James dad. Was wondering when this would occur. I am interested to see how similar James and his dad may be.

How great knowing that Brad has finally found someone that can fulfill all his needs and desires. James, too, is fortunate having found Brad. As Vater says, their romantic and passionate night has proven their commitment to each other. I love Sharon's request for grandkids...:-) Hopefully James' dad will inquire about the same thing. Thanks for the great update, AG.
