Very good comeback!

And a very good observation.

That's so... well, typical. The people of the majority and/or the ruling class are always so horribly self-centered when it comes to worldview: they're practically incapable of considering other realities than their own.

But they themselves are a product of carefully inculcated social ideals, this idiocy is not something they chose but something that was taught to them, in exactly the same manner, as small children.

From infancy onward we (Americans in particular) are inculcated with the ideal paradigm of mommy and daddy and brother and sister and a dog or a cat in a nice little suburban home. And those of us for whom this paradigm is useless or impossible suffer for it, while those who enjoy it can't imagine why we're suffering. I mean, what's not to like?

There's no practical difference between brainwashing and socialization... it's just that "brainwashing" implies a resocialization, an erasure of what one already believes so that a new system can be received.

Anyway, you definitely hit the right note with your statement, and I hope your colleagues learned something from it.

The workplace is the perfect place to challenge heterosexism. You said the perfect thing, Piggy. Once, when someone was showing off a picture of their grandson, someone said that he was going to break a lot of girl's hearts. I replied, and some boys' hearts as well.

It was custom to hang pictures of our children in our common work room. I hang a picture of my dog. It was ripped down once, the premise being that my dog is not equal to their children. I put it back up. If I have to look at their poop/noise pollution factories, they will have to look at my flea bitten mutt.

I like how you replied, Piggy.

Some people just have no clue :( They can try all they want...it doesn't matter. I am sure all of us gays were told 'boys don't do this with boys' and yet we did it many years later anyway (after the confusion...and guilt most likely).

The other day, one of the special needs kids I work with tried to kiss another boy.

The teachers got on him. They said, "Don't be silly. Boys don't kiss boys. Boys give girls kisses. Boys give boys handshakes."

I interrupted with, "WE don't kiss while at school, BOYS or GIRLS." ;)

It's part of our society, I guess.

Congratulations to you, Piggy! This is the right answer for SO many reasons, not just the reasons that matter to people posting on a gay message forum.

In the business world, boys don't give girls kisses. Girls give boys handshakes. Especially when the girl is the CEO!

In the academic world, boys don't give girls kisses. Girls give boys handshakes. Especially when the girl is the Chancellor of the University!

In the military world, boys don't give girls kisses. Girls give boys handshakes. Especially when the girl is the Commanding Officer!

In the dating world, boys and girls kiss when they're in love. And boys kiss boys when they're in love. And girls kiss girls when they're in love.

Yeah, you showed them. +1 for the gays.

Yeah and you showed everyone through your contrarian sarcasm, the level of your inane intelligence. +1 for the douchebags.

Piggy said the right thing and showed tact. Not getting into a full blown argument with people that aren't going to change, especially in front of kids, is a wise decision. But you wouldn't know anything about that would you?

Out of curiosity, what age range were the kids involved?

Simple affection should be encouraged, not restricted.

Piggy's interjection could very well be interpreted as militancy. When you question the status quo, you leave yourself open to those kinds of conclusions. Just sayin...

And when your opinion is wanted or relevant, hell will have frozen over.

Don't you have some parody thread to be making in the Entertainment forum or something?

Isn't "inane intelligence" a contradiction in terms?

Its a paradoxical phrase, to illustrate the confines of a fickle mind. Complements your contrarian nature quite well.

If people want to be homophobic/anti-gay, who am I to stop them from having their opinion?

Right, so you leave people who don't agree with you alone, and then you heckle people on JUB for making wise decisions with your oh-so-"anti-militant" opinions

Makes sense.

Religion has mastered the art of "brain-washing" and has practiced it for many thousands of year......all religions practice the same brand.....get children while they are young and impressionable and you can mold them to do or believe anything.....the Hitler Youth are just one example that comes to mind.....

Teachers don't kiss teachers at school ........

Mmmmmmmhmm. We all know where this is going to go.

Where? To the unanimous decision that despite what you think, you are actually the embodiment of militancy --a recurring motif in all your posts?

The one that you've been trying to "combat"?

Nice to see that's working out for ya!

I'm not your honey. Hit me with all you got if you want. You don't know what you're dealing with.

PM me.

I didn't say you were my honey, honey, so don't get it twisted even more than you do right now. And I'm not PM'ing any damn body. If you wanna throw punches, we can handle it right here, right now. I don't do favors in combat, so check yourself at the door and make sure you know exactly what you're walking into.

It was more of a courtesy than anything, so people on JUB wouldn't have to endure your farcical attempts at constructing an argument. If you're going to be a troll, at least be a good one!

It's that "straight agenda" conspiracy.

Has Ohnoyoudidnt posted anything yet? Wow that ignore button really is useful. Advising everyone to the same.
