Marcel's hair makes me very angry, though. It's not flattering at all, and makes him look like a microphone, especially since he's so skinny. it's out of control and he needs to see a barber to get a "big boy" haircut.
i like marcel's hair, but i was kinda wishing they'd buzzzed him when they had the chance.. that wudda been hot to watch and marcel would look hella hot with hizz head buzzed..

Sam over all of them. I just didn't like Marcel. He was a little bitch. Ilan, maybe he wasn't that great, but he wasn't as much of a pussy as Marcel.

Still, Sam...cook for me...

I watched this series for the first time this season..... right from the start I pulled for Marcel. He was picked on by everyone, don't know why. The show didn't really tell us why... only that everyone hated him from start to finish.
Still, I think he had the greatest focus of anyone. He didn't complain about the others as they did toward him.
His cooking was always creative, but had a touch of class and expertise.
That Betty girl, the one with the kerchief... what a joke she was.
Well I knew Marcel wouldn't win in the end.... it was pretty predictable, though I did think Sam would win it.
Pretty good series though. I may catch it again, when the new chefs are on board.

I too saw it for the first time this season and was also rooting for Marcel from the beginning. I was so dissapointed that Ilan won over him, he was such an ass to Marcel and I didn't really see why. It's like he woke up one day and decided he was going to be a total jerk to him. Maybe that was the way they edited it. I thought Sam was super hot but he had no personality, i'd still do him though ;-)

Sam should have been eliminated in the Unhappy Customers episode. He was 100% responsible for the restaurant failing... He made the nasty cheese & watermelon desert and he decided not to serve wine in an Italian restaurant. It was a complete cop-out when they chose Michael to go home.

And it's really pathetic that people choose not to like Marcel for absolutely no reason. He never did a thing to anyone, yet people think it's alright to treat him like dirt just because he isn't as popular as those douchebags, Ilan, Sam and Elia.

Marcel was probably the grossest person I've seen on my television since TBS aired Eric Stoltz as Rocky Dennis in Mask. I didn't like any of the contestants, and caught it by accident, and just absolutely hated this Marcel person. I didn't care who won as long as he lost.
Is that one of the New Kids On The Block in your avatar?

I'll bet Ilan is still fantasizing about pissing on Marcel. What a tool. But Marcel didn't do himself any favors either. I've worked with a LOT fo chefs, and they are often arrogant and annoying, but they control their kitchens, and the people who work with them usually get a learning experience that they find beneficial. marcel couldn't lead or teach, nor could he translate his innovative methods into a consistent dinner (Michael was NO help, and I would have chosen Mia, but that's me). Ilan, though easy on the eyes, was obsessive in his targeting of Marcel (some latent lust methinks; he never answered a question about anything without mentioning Marcel!), boring in his food choices, but knew who to pick and how to inspire loyalty (even if it was only common-enemy loyalty).
My one problem with the show is that, unlike dance, singing, design , etc. competitions, taste cannot be truly conveyed over the television, so there's an over-reliance upon the judge's comments/decisions in deciding whose food really was superior.

I was pulling for Elia. She seemed like the coolest person out of all of them.

I agree that it wasn't really all that clear as to why everyone hated Marcel. But if even Elia, his only friend, started to turn on him at the end, I think that's saying something. Whatever it is, there is something about Marcel (in person) that people just don't like. And if you're going to run a restaurant, you need your team to be behind you. So from that perspective, I can see why he lost.

I think Ellia was simply jealous. And got caught up in the 'hate Marcel' group-think that was going on. Look at her behavior in the last few shows: engaging in the shaving prank, saying that Marcel 'cheated' at the judging, and then not having a single incident to back it up, and then at the final judging not defending Ilan's (and her team's) food on its own merit, but attacking Marcel's food, which the judges correctly pointed out she hadn't even tasted! She most definitely did not deserve to 'ween'.:-)

Marcel was an instigator. He deserved to lose.

Elia was the best. She seemed talented, and the judges always seemed to like her food.

I think that Tom Colicchio, the head judge, should be replaced. He's mean-spirited, nasty, and all around boring. They should put Anthony Bourdain (the FUNNIEST mean guy on TV) in his place. It would be a much better show.

I agree with you. He was a jackass who didn't bring anything to program. I remember him complaining that some dish that Sam had prepared wasn't "cooked" when the dish was never intended to be "cooked". Plus why not have a hot male presenter to go with the hot female presenter?

I was rooting for Elia too and then she turned on Marcel and started being just like Ilan. It seemed out of nowhere, I didn't get it.

I don't think Tom Colicchio is as mean as some judges on other shows and besides maybe I'm the only one but I was kinda crushing on him. I think he's a hottie, I definitely hope both him and the show come back for another season!

I loved Season 1 because it was mostly drama free, and mostly about the cooking. Season 2 was good at the beginning, but it was starting to turn into Real World: Chef Edition.
