Imagine the health harm caused by ready-to-eat cold breakfast cereals since the 20th century.
A bowl of sugar covered in milk, which also has sugar, so it's all carbs . . . with suggestions of protein.

Magic Spoon was suppose to change everything. How's that working out now?

We were allowed corn flakes and Cheerios as young kids ...but also allowed to put sugar on them.

And then our mother gave in and allowed us the sugar bomb garbage after we were about 7 or 8 years old. By 13 I would only eat savoury foods like eggs with toast.

Cold cereals are a terrible product for children's breakfasts.

What's most fascinating about dry cereals, is that the founders of the two major cereal brands, C. W. Post and W. W. Kellog, were both interested in healthy breakfast foods; and, developed many of their earlier products along that line (i.e. Grape Nuts).

One of the big changes coming though will be the restriction on dyes in foods in the US....the cereals in Canada are not allowed to use most of these so are less colourful.

Remember, breakfast is the most important meal of the day - to your dentist.
Thank you, Sugar Pops Pete! (I think he's a prairie dog)

I remember being so addicted to those so called healthy Granola type cereals when they were super popular in the 80s.

Especially the almond flavored ones with toasted almonds and crunchy oatmeal clusters.

But they had tons of sugar. :(

They did make you have a nice poop tho.

And after eating them for a week your jaw was strong enough to bite through a steel bar.

A better poop than the Cabbage Crispies you eat these days?

Does red cabbage cause pink poop, too?
Red cabbage is the only vegetable my parrot will not eat.
She does love Cheerios.

I can remember having granola regularly when I was a teenager, although it was something my mother made. I have no idea how much fat or sugar there was. Back then, though, unlike now, I cared about neither fat nor sugar. My favorite installment was with warm granola recently out of the oven.

The thing that got me years later my regular grocvery store sold granola out of bulk bins for a $$$$ price. That price got me, because while I couldn't remember the exact recipe my mother used, I suspect it was not that expensive to make--which was probably one reason she made it so much.

Yes! She is a little Sénégal parrot who squeaks and squawks and loves people foods. Just not red cabbage or blueberries.
My sister has one that will take a fit and be mad for days if you don’t share your mashed potatoes with him.

Yup. Had a sweet Dusky Headed Conure with a bold personality. She loved when I would bring her different things to nibble on. Bits of mango or coconut or nuts.....

She would be so excited.
