Breaking News >> Reports Of People Shot At A California Hgh School

"Nothing is going to be changed" is pretty lazy thinking.
And are you really suggesting that kids be equipped with bullet proof vests and riot gear?

how so? it's the truth. the most these politicans will do is try to issue another assault rifles ban BUT they will not regulate guns completely because the NRA is basically in bed with the government. politics and money comes before the lives of people. the same thing with the mental health system. despite what they might say about us having the right to vote, us contacting our congressional or house of representative person for our districts and etc, we have to live with what these people chose to do and our safety and well being are NOT at the interests of these guys. it never was.

these people that we're talking about from the NRA to these politicans are sociopaths. they could care less about those kids in sandy hook or columbine or the kids that got shot @ that school today or about us in general. we're nothing to them.

Fuji,

Check your statistics...legitimate weapon owners in the US are not the people performing these acts.
The people that do are the reason many of us have weapons... bleeding hearts and sheep that suck
up whatever the general media tells them, need to come to grips with a simple fact.

People kill people and they will use whatever implement is at hand to do so,
including knives, cars and bombs. The violence and crime rates are not any better in countries with
even the most stringent gun controls...often, their media is just as controlled and unlike the USA
have a narrow bandwidth of acceptable reportage.

I have owned many of those implements (no bombs, just the materials to make them) for well over
40 years. Even at my chemically most mentally impaired I never killed anyone. I have used all those
'implements' in my daily life all this time.

My friend, don't pull the Black card with me. Here and in Bakersfield and most of California
it is the Brown or even the Yellow card if you want to play statistician. I'm going to shut up
now...I hate to waste energy and I don't mean on you.

people kill people < is a red herrin of 1stworld game play keep folk off da nose

anyway

just say dat type dat

thankyou

I told somebody yesterday "The president is announcing he'll have his ideas on gun control shortly. Which means we're due for another shooting."

Oh look.

Lex

In that case, what are your opinions on numbers for this weekend's 10 million bucks lottery draw? :D

you're right. another thing that you mentioned is that gun violence is NOT only an issue with america. it's overlooked in elsewhere such as brazil and jamaica where gun violence is worse than over there BUT because those countries aren't wealthy or developed as america is, it gets overlooked. it's that there seems to be a good amount of people that don't know how to manage their emotions where they feel that the only way to express themselves is through hurting people. if there were no guns, they would find another way to do so. that's how determined they are when it comes to hurting somebody. the question is why are they like that though? some people are violent sociopaths BUT other people aren't that though. i guess that's where sociology and psychology comes in. *shrugs*

Because it is giving up and history has shown things do indeed change. It is easier to think "nothing will change" rather then thinking how things can change and if there is anything "you" can do to help that.

you're right. it's that when it comes to this, it's a much larger problem than just guns and having access to something to hurt somebody with. it's more so about why people do violent acts to begin with. what would make someone want to hit somebody instead of just diverting their anger into something productive such as writing their feelings out or taking it out on a punching bag or going to lift weights or something like that. honestly, i think it's safe to say that violent behavior is innate in everybody though. it just depends on the person though.

I want to hear these news happened in the NRA offices.

wouldn't it be interesting if someone busted through the NRA offices and shot it up? wonder what the NRA would say?

wouldn't it be ironic that no one in the NRA offices was armed either? that would be something else. i wonder if those folks are armed. i hope they are.

but why is everybody shocked? do you realize how many school shootings happened in the last 20 years? folks is acting like it's something brand new.

as i said, i don't get the purpose of acting surprised or shocked. to you, this might be surprising BUT to me, it's not. keep this in mind, there's schools in inner city areas where it's so commonplace where they need metal detectors and have to do pat downs on the students because there's guns coming in and out of the school. sometimes, there are school shootings that happen in inner city schools BUT it doesn't make the news because it's NOT something that the media can use to sell to an audience. what gets me is the selectiveness of how people view so and so in whatever community as bigger victims if it occurs in some suburb but yet in some inner city neighborhood where there's tons of people getting killed by guns whether in school or on the street, people like you could care less.

i'm just saying. all this gun violence thing has been a problem for years BUT people suddenly realize it's a problem when someone who is perceived as an innocent victim is harmed. there was some 17 year old that got gunned down by two gunmen with ak-47s about 3 weeks ago before the new year in far rockaway, queens. i guess he isn't as much as a victim as these kids in the high school because he lived in the projects and is black. just trying to make a point of how people chose to be selective and the media damn sure ain't helping them see the bigger picture.

Not totally sure how you mean, Refuji, but if you mean "people kill people with guns in our country all the time, how come we only act like it's bad/a surprise when it's a school", I agree with you.

No matter how well armed they are,
who ever stalk and shoot first in fast pace (100 bullets per minutes) wins.
Will be more dead on the NRA side than the shooters side.

that's what i meant.

Update

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-20975608

Students and staff telephoned police, but before officers could arrive, the suspect had shot at two people in a class in the science block. One shot missed its target.

The teacher, who had been grazed by a pellet, then intervened. He is reported by US media to have warned the suspect that there would be no shooting in his class, at which point the gunman put down his weapon and police officers arrested him.

It took an unarmed teacher to convince the gun-child (16yo) to put down his gun.

you have people talking about "i need a gun to protect myself"

That is probably the most common argument for the Second Amendment, but it's a fallacy. Nobody can convince me that, if those two victims today had been carrying guns, they would not have been shot. Same with Columbine or Newtown or the Colorado theatre massacre.

Quite simply, it's impossible to protect yourself from someone who is going to shoot you without your knowledge. All the guns in the world won't stop innocent people from being murdered by a maniac with an assault rifle despite what the NRA might say.

Ahh, copy cat crimes -- how they never seem to amaze me.

In my first year at the university, there were a large amount of anti-semitic drawings around campus. There was a huge outrage and it was all over the local media and newspapers. Nobody was able to stop the people who were doing it. Then, all of a sudden, new stations, papers, and other media sources stopped reporting them, and the crimes suddenly stopped. Now, I'm not saying that stopping the reporting of these cases will completely stop the murders, however, I'm thoroughly convinced that the rate will be heavily reduced.

Just a thought.

I agree that infamy is definitely part of the motivation for people this disturbed. However I also think no matter how much you passed laws or requests or whatever else for news agencies not to cover these things, all that would do is make the scoop that much bigger for the one journalist or news company that disregarded the rule and got in on the story first.

Not surprising. It's typical America. It's sad but a reality.

Telly,

Do you really live alone in your own little world? No caretaker or similar?

Up over here in America, NRA facilities, like many other types of facilities draw 'whackos',
the marginally {in}sane and undesirables like honeysuckles draw bees. Most all of those
places have precautionary buffers in place.
By the way, your scenario would be more likely to draw BOMBERS and ARSONISTS.
The problems endemic to my Country/State/County/local are vaguely similar to others.
Suggestions are always welcome. However, just like when other countries try to tell us
how to do the politics, run the country and demand we do it their way I am compelled to
ask, if y'all all are so smart...how come we are providing food, medicine, money and tons
of aid for disasters never mind fighting their wars and dying for people that either could
care less or would love to see us dead. But they rush their pregnant partners here to give
birth and gain the American citizenship, sneak over the borders to live yadda yadda yadda...

Try wiping your nose with a reality fact sheet hankie before you (and so many others) spread
more germs. I bet the Aboriginals there and the Maoris next door were none to pleased
when those wooden ships started pulling in and telling them how to live

Oops, now I'm over emoting...
where did I leave my AK-47 (Worlds most popular & common firearm) and look out, mine
fires 600-640 projectiles (not a lousy 100) per minute with a muzzle velocity of 700m/s and
an effective range of 400 metres.

Developing updates, courtesy of KERO-TV...

>> Took place on the second floor of the campus' science building.

>> Shooter was 16yrs old. He had multiple rounds of 12 gauge shells on him and was taken down by nearby teacher.

>> Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood said that the student shooter shot one student who is in critical-but-stable condition. The shooter attempted to shoot another student but missed and struck a teacher in the head.

He had/used a 12-gauge shotgun? With buckshot?

Hell, that’s a varmint gun. That has to be the very last on the list of guns to get rid of - if it makes the list at all.
