Hi, I'm doing a project bout British Culture stuff. I have to write an essay bout it. But the problem is, I dunno what to write about, I mean the topic. Can any British gentlemen or someone knows well bout UK help me? It's an emergency, the deadline is next week :((

Perhaps one aspect you could concentrate on if the fact that there is no specific British culture as such as the united Kingdom is a multi cultural society with many religious, regional and secular differences thereby making it almost impossible to pin any one feature down as being "British" by definition.

i love British culture even though I'm American. I would love to there.

Whats your project title or question? Surely its not to discuss british culture in general!!! Its so multicultural and even within the different parts of the UK, culture varies tremendously.

What appears to identify as British culture to many people over the world is the long standing Monarchy and the many people who hold titles such as Prince,Duke,Earl etc. The Westminster system of government with the House of Commons filled with M.P's voted for by the people. The House of Lords populated by people with hereditary titles and not voted for by the people.
So many other things have change due to multiculturalism.

"A gentleman never wears brown shoes" and "Continent isolated", as once said by The Times when there was smog on the Channel, are typically British in my eyes. The British always have a certain restraint that seems to become their second nature. You could see that in the McCanns (not exactly an English name, but still British), wich made appear Maddy's mother especially suspect for the Portugese. A Portugese can'nt understand a mother is able to behave with such restraint in the circumstances. I think flegm is really British too. You don't find anywhere else such flegm and restraint so wide aspead in the population. The British can tell you the most incredible things as if they talk about the weather. I like British lads. They are cool. And for the rest ask kagoul what they think about themselves.

A gentleman can wear brown shoes - it's just no brown shoes in town - only for the countryside (a bit like white shoes and Labour Day).

As for the restraint of the McCanns - depends on whether you think they are baby killers or not

Restraint - guilt who knows

I had heard that people said we had a "stiff upper lip". I never really understood this until this year, because i'm in a class full of exchange students from Europe, Africa, Asia and US and it is so evident. While they shout out and question the lecturer (to the point of sheer rudeness), we are self-restraint and possibly more disciplined. Hard to explain really.
