If this is the official video and not a hoax or red herring then I have lost my last shred of hope for this girl in wanting to seriously take her career by the reigns and go at it 100% again. This was just pathetic ! No imagination or true dancing doing on and when you compare it to her earlier works such as Slave 4 U and Drive Me Crazy this is a laugh and totally embarrissing beyond belief. Who in their right mind okayed this to be put out in the first place ?! The same people who allowed her to go on stage at the VMA's totally fucked in the head and out of her fricken' mind I bet !!
God, I had such high hopes for this. I actually like this song despite my reservations of it being simply Toxic take two, but it was a good song and I hoped it would be the first step in her being back in the limelight and doing what she does best properly again. From what I heard, the concept was supposed to be like Kylie Minogue's video to Did It Again, where she is basically playing different versions of herself in the one take and they are all fighting each other for 'control' of the real Kylie. This was supposed to be the same type of deal for Gimme More.

After being given mixed critics after a worldwide preview release on iTunes, MTV.com reveals the video that has launched this October 5th is NOT the FINAL OFFICIAL VIDEO for smash hit 'Gimme More'. The PREVIEW that has leaked on iTunes and that just got #1 in downloads is only the DIRECTOR'S-CUT.

"Spears doesn't actually attempt lap dances in the "Gimme More" video — she's mostly dancing near a pole and stripping just a little, with a director's-cut version revealing nearly bare breasts with star-shaped pasties."

Its not bad...infact looking over alot of britneys vids...aside from toxic and everytime she isnt really known for amazing vids lets be fair...thought it suited the song and was fair game!!
 
Meaning...what? "Director's Cut"? Not "rough cut"? "Director's Cut" usually means "restored by the director due to edits s/he objected to". Or do they mean "Home Video Release Version" - which usually means more salacious, containing "too hot for TV" moments? In the first case, that'd mean the director thinks the official edited version stinks. In the second case, it just means it'll be tamer than the version posted here. Either way, it would appear that the version on TV will simply be a tamer version of what's above. And I don't think that'll change my opinion of it any.

So if I watch the premiere, is it proof that I'm actually a closet Britney fan? And if I don't, is it further proof of me being a hater?

I loved it, but it could have been much better.

Britney looks beautiful as always and liked the special effects and colors in the video.

I can't say anything bad because Britney is my favorite artist.

i'm actually a Britney fan, don't go all CRAZY on me..

i just said not to expect this big ol' brand new video, Director's Cuts aren't really much different at all. you're hyping it up too much, setting yourself for a letdown.

i'll have it up tomorrow, then we can see the differences.. :)
 
I really like the song but I thought the video was a little weak. I did like the video in the second post.

I think its very good actually even though it isnt the official version. If it was, job well done, it is real and raw and dealt with what the song is about.

Nancy Grace didnt like it and put it on blast, saying she could do that LOL
 
The "Official" video is on TRL now if anyone is interested...

Edit: And now its ended...I didn't notice anything different, but I was doing other things
