Britney Spears playing in Vegas is going to be a tank.

Britney Spears only has pathetic young gay fans. None of those people have enough money left after they buy all their perfume and clothes to afford to go to Las Vegas. Nor would they want to. Las Vegas has about as much for gay people as West Hollywood does for tractor pull fans.

She basically had a mild comeback with Circus and then it has been downhill to irrelevance like Christina Aguilera. Gaga is heading there slowly because her new album is getting panned. It seems like the age of the diva is over.

It may be the top telling track on iTunes for a day, although I doubt that too and can't be arsed to look it up. That doesn't make it a number one song. It isn't #1 anywhere.

Spears was flown to a dry lake bed in the Nevada desert for the pre-dawn announcement. About 1,300 people had been bused to the remote location in the wee hours of the morning, and were waiting for her dressed in Britney Spears T-shirts or the singer's signature schoolgirl look from her "... Spears' helicopter hovered in the desert above her fans, who were holding giant cards that formed a 10-story-tall picture of her. The singer stepped off the aircraft and said she was feeling sick. After a second — and live — interview with "GMA," she headed back to the helicopter, barely smiling and offering little more than a wave.

It may not be right now, but it wouldn't surprise me to see it get there. Her first three singles off her last album (all of two years ago) went Top Ten, with one of them hitting number one. Admittedly, her last single stalled out at #54, but it was from the Smurfs 2 soundtrack - did ANYONE even know about that one coming out? This one's getting the full promotional push, and I'm guessing it'll be top five by the end of September.

The point is that Britney Spears fans are mostly to blame for the general public disgust with Britney Spears because of stupid bullshit like "that song that got leaked to the internet yesterday went #1 in 35 countries." That song won't even qualify for a chart position until next week and most radio stations have passed on playing it because of the title and it's kind of a dud on iTunes.

Musical taste is subjective and just because you think it's awful doesn't make it awful for everyone else. You're basically a food critic (as is EvilTwinTwo). Some people like calamari, others like fish n chips. If you don't like fish n chips, you can't go around telling everyone they should not like it as well. You're not eating it, they are. And they enjoy it.

I actually find it sad that people like EvilTwinTwo take time out of their day to go into threads of singers/performers they don't even like just to troll or post something negative which is something they've said on pages before and was just ignored because really, nobody cares.

Do I care for this Britney song? No.
Was it #1 on 35 countries on itunes? Yes.
Do I care about how it will chart? No.
Is Britney Spears commanding a large worldwide audience? Yes.

We've discussed this at length several times, but to sum up, Britney Spears ceased being a human being some time ago. Well, there is a human being at the core (call her Brit) but she's mainly a brand name now. She's like a gay sporting team. When she's got a new album coming out, the fans dress up in the appropriate colors and wave their little pennants. And unlike actual sporting contests, these fans can affect the outcome of the "game". They buy the single and album in droves - another number one! Once more, they've proved the haters wrong! It's Britney, bitch! And just like a sports fanatic, her victory is their victory. Even more so, actually, because what the hell did that schlub in the Peyton Manning jersey actually do for the team? And I suppose that puts you at the level of Raider Hater.

Is the song good? No. But that's long since been irrelevant.

I don't care much about record sales but I DO find the way that Britney Spears fans over-sell their shit to be beyond annoying. Claiming that a fading pop star with a rabid but shrinking fanbase is the biggest thing in the world, for whatever reason, is very annoying. It's the gay version of a yappy miniature poodle.

Well and that's true. Her records suck and everyone knows that but her "fans" will buy anything with her name on it which is why there are more perfumes and t-shirts and clothing lines and posters and... whatever memorabilia they make now. For her and her fans I'd suggest glass pipes and PEP doses.
