So I just finished watching Brokeback Mountain, and oh my gosh.

What a movie!

And I am not all caught up in the gay appeal of it. It is truly a moving movie, and so well done! A movie of this caliber is a once in a lifetime thing. ..|

At the last line, I lost it and began  uncontrollably. If you have seen the movie, you know.

Yes I got a chance to see it with my b/f a little while back

Thoroughly enjoyed it and yes the  started then too.....

I thought that through film, like this, the profile of being gay may be increasingly accepted.

Certainly hope so ..|

it is one of the best movies I have ever seen - that script is equisitely well crafted, the acting is so extraordinary, and it brings to life Annie Proulx's very moving story

i didnt enjoy the choppiness of it, the story was good, but it could have been done better. i would give it an eight out of ten. i think i will need to watch it over again to really appreciate it

I just don't understand how anyone saw that as a great movie.... I was bored out of my mind! I just kept thinking, "is it ever gonna end?". The whole story could have been done in 45 min to an hour. My sister said "wow that was a long boring movie". Of course, that's just our opinions ..|

I think the movie was over hyped. The media kept on going on and on about how groundbreaking it was. After seeing the movie it was good but great no way. One thing I didn't like was the lack of passion in the movie. Where was the gay passion? Only a few kisses here and there. And then nothing. And why was there only one sex scene? The movie showed the anal sex scene was violent and full of lust. But why didn't have have another anal sex scene that was tender and full of love?

The movie was long and sad, but I liked it. Of course I loved the scene where Ennis fucks Jack in the tent (rough, raw sex...hot!)...that scene should have been longer. I, like everybody else, was dissappointed that there weren't more Ennis/Jack sex scenes.

The movie was amazing. Loved it from beginning to end.

The movie brilliantly adapted the short story exactly as it was, so I don't know why you were looking for some extra sex scenes. And these guys were repressed so it'd be out of character if you see them just kissing and making love all the time.

I enjoyed the movie, though I think 'enjoyed' is the wrong word to express it given that the subject matter can be rather depressive and makes you quite melancholy after you view it on dvd for a while. It is the movie though that proved Heath can act when given the right role, so it is good to see him validated as a talent to watch. Some complained it was too 'all heath and not enough jake and jack', but the story is essencially ALL about Ennis and his inner struggle with his gay identity in a time where 'gay' was suppressed to the point of non existence and there was no real identifiable role models to which you could base yourself on as today. We complain about a lack of gay role models now, but we have masses when compared to what it was like back in ennis and jack's time.
Also, Jack is pretty much a secondary character in the book and film. He truly only serves as the catalyst that spurs Ennis' gay side out of the closet and forces him to confront it. He is important yes, but the story is essentially ALL ennis and how self loathing and unsureness in yourself can lead to a life half lived and on you knees.

I just watched it. I feel really depressed now... It was a really moving movie... However, I was waiting to hear "I love you" but it was never said... Oh! And the way Jake died and they never got the chance to say a proper Goodbye.
What left a gap in me, is that I would have liked it for such an intense love to have been much more lived, if you know what I mean...

The movie was okay until I fell alseep! I really thought it was over-hyped. Just my 2 cents!

I certainly hope the next gay movies after this one actually shows that gay people have passion. Because in this movie I feel compromises were made to appease a heterosexual audience. I doubt people would be going all crazy about this movie if the leads weren't so attractive. And that's what I would find interesting a movie about two gay men falling in love that don't look like they should be on the cover of Tiger Beat.

I've got to agree with you, people... Passion was non-existent and I didn't like the violent fuck in the beginning of the movie. It could have been much more sweet and passionate... Anyway, I can't keep myself from being sad about the ending. The way Jake died was so unfair for such a lifelong love

Well the stars are not gay in real life, so passion is not really an option. Think about it this way, if u had to kiss a girl, you wouldnt like it, much less have passion while doing it. Thats my 2 cents

BBM is only a boring movie if you are uninterested in sexuality and representations of it.

Is anyone who posts here really uninterested in gay sex/love and the way it's depicted?

I only watched the movie a few weeks ago, prepared to be turned off. I was pleasantly surprised. "Pleasant" not really being the right word.....

(With only a couple of important exceptions) BBM is thoughtful, understated and beautifully written.

Regarding "passion": the limits on Jack's and Ennis' passion is practically the central theme of the whole movie. Of course it comes across as 'non-existent.' That's the point.

The Pianist: I hope you'll watch it, and then report back. It's not what I expected. Yup, devastating. But devastation that is really well handled. I can't figure out why yet exactly, but it doesn't leave you empty handed.
