You can't get this movie out of your head because it is your heart's desire to find a love like theirs and because you are in the closet you can relate to it so well. I loved the movie, it was beautiful! You too can find love like that, but you need to come out of closet and accept yourself for who you really are first. I know the decision to come out is probably one of the toughest you will ever have to make but you will be so thankful after! Good luck!

" Dont let the most important thing for you to get away. Because you don't know what tomorrow has in his hand for you."

That's where my head is now, sorta anyway. I came out to my family, rather late in life but I figure better late than never. I can now feel comfortable should I find the man of my dreams.

Thanks for mini review, I'm going to add this DVD to my collection.

^^^^We wuz robbed! The Oscar should have been ours. Interesting to see guys who are just now getting around to seeing it.

when did you come out? how did they react?
i hope im not invading your privacy and ill understand if you dont want to answer my questions but im just curious...
and i wish you only the best and that you will find the man of your dreams.
you'll love this movie ;)

Im mostly open as well as out..|

I came out last week, not really planned but encouraged by JUB's folk.
Reaction overall was positive, but time will really tell how my family feels about me being GAY. [mom has already turned 180*, rejecting me as gay me as gay:cry: ]

Life is good, this movie makes it better(!)

It's out now. I just bought it at Walmart.

It's beautifully packaged. A second disc with seven documentary style featurettes relating to the filming/crew/script/emotional impact of the film.

Also, 8 large, gorgeous picture postcards of pivital scenes in the film. Along with the one Ennis received from Jack including the message on the back, stamp and all.

Excellent! thanks for the info, ..|

bawled at the end of this movie, and in the parking lot, and in the car going home.

That's just what I did.

Is it worth to buy the new 2-Disc-Edition if you already have the single disc?
And does the new release look as good as this 2-Disc-Edition I already own, too. (attached files)?

ok this is going to get so much flame but here goes....

a) operafan... what part were you in the movie?

b) It lost because it sucked..... Crash was the better movie and deserved it over this over hyped piece of trash (ok that was a bit harsh... this wasn't a bad movie just waay too slow)

c) I honestly felt more at the end of Crash than at the end of BBM... it just didn't seem realistic to me...

I would rather say that "Crash" was overrated. It just pretends to be ambitious. Most of the characters (for example the character which was played by Sandra Bullock) are pretty shallow. "Crash" tries as hell to be candid and moving. Just like they wanted to underline how bad society can be and that everybody should fight for fairness and justice. [-X
They are raising their forefinger sooo high. "Brokeback Mountain" does not. There is no upraised forefinger. "Brokeback Mountain" can convince without shallow stylistic devices like that.
But everybody his own opinion. I'm happy with my boring as hell piece of shit.

I too want someone who cheats on me with mexican hookers and plans to live with someone else in their very own ranch.

He would only be responding to the fact that you don't put out enough and don't want to join him on the ranch. After his death, you'd be full of regret that you just weren't there for him. But then you knew that.

I read that the latest DVD isn't worth getting. At some point, they might release one with more interesting new material on it.

I would see them more as a couple if Jakes character would just stop cheating every chance he had.

Both the short story and the film make it clear that Jake's "cheating" is a frustrated response to Ennis' not wanting to see Jake more often or have a life with him. There's nothing to suggest that Jakes cheats "every chance he had". Plus also a couple can be a couple without being monogamous. So you're kinda getting it wrong every which way.

In Brokeback, two people have a sustained love affair over a long period of time without being able to get all that they might from their relationship until it's too late. Many "cheating" couples find themselves in that situation. That's kinda one of the points of the story.

I watched Brokeback Mountain again last night. The first time I watched it I was kinda disappointed so when I watched it again last night I was hoping that it would seem better to me. I still wasn't blown away but I thought it was pretty good. I just had a hard time getting into it even though I really wanted to like it.

That the excuse guys use when they have been cheated on and still stay with the cheater.

Thats why I prefer to be the "other guy" than be the one that had been cheated on.

Ennis hates gays. That's what he's been taught by his father. He showed him that gays are perverts which deserve to be killed. Ennis is kind of disgusted by himself because he's got feelings for Jack. He can't get rid of his fathers opinion that homosexuality is wrong and disgusting. The only scene in which he his tender to Jack without any bad feeling is the cutback when they meet for the last time. The book says he can only hug Jack because he does it from behind so he doesn't have to see his face. He feels uncomfortable with being gay. That's why he is always rejecting Jack's wish of a life together. Because he thinks it's wrong and of course they would both be killed if it came out. That's what he his convinced of. Ennis rejection is the only reason for Jack to "cheat" him.

Not at all. Some couples agree that they can have other sexual partners. Other people just don't see it as an issue if one of them strays. Even those people, who want to see themselves as forsaken victims or abandoned women, are responsible for their own choices, including how they see themselves. There isn't a one size fits all formula especially for gay couples.

Thats why I prefer to be the "other guy" than be the one that had been cheated on.

But my guess is that, unlike Ennis, you wouldn't sexually frustrate your partner, not want to make a life with him but string him along for decades. You're identifying with Ennis as the "other guy" rather than seeing that Ennis caused the actions you're complaining about.

If you want to see it in "cheating" terms, Ennis did more to cheat on Jack than vice versa. Just my opinion.
