Black Family Given Deed to Bruce's Beach Nearly 100 Years After Land Was Stripped from Their Ancestors

Stop the presses! THIS is what amending the past looks like. I almost had to pinch myself to be sure I wasn't dreaming. (Although I learned on an episode of Batman that you can't read in dreams which I believe cuz I can't remember ever having had a dream where I read anything, books, signs, newspapers). Anywho, I found this story to be extremely inspiring. But also a reminder how much more work we have to do.
"Nothing like this has ever been done before," remarked Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, the outlet reported.
The economically and psychologically (and genetically) crippling horror that was black life in America has mostly been wiped from memory (and history books). The time has long past for MEANINGFUL correction but as a sign of good faith and warm intentions ANY effort is better than none (or, worse, aggressive opposition). There is a very sobering reality that hits every time we make progress and realize just how long it took to get there coupled with the relatively small improvements that barely even count as forward-movement.
This gif is the best representation of the US trying to correct racism in 2022.
Land has been stolen, lives were stolen, communities destroyed, careers and businesses sabotaged and burnt down, if anyone thinks a blanket exoneration of all these crimes and a half-hearted apology followed by "Now get over it" is sufficient, all I can say is buckle up, Rupert. #yousaidneverforget #wedidntforget
Neither here nor there, never been to Cali and don't know much about the history, I wonder if this was an isolated incident or if we can expect more deed reversals since Cali is Mississippi miles ahead of everyone else in the "let's aggressively try to correct the past" race.
If this becomes a hot spot for black people I might finally take that trip I've been promising Cali friends for years. Hopefully it doesn't go in the other direction, affluent people tend to be obnoxiously elitist so we'll see. For every Karen that calls the cops there's a Stanley (if you know you know) just itching to police their own people.
