Mastiffs can be gargantuan. I wonder if it really was one, and what it might have been mixed with. Often, descriptions like "mastiff cross" have more to do with phenotype than breed.

Tonight's news says the child's name was Dion and then mastiff cross dog looked like this—

Dion and the dog had been raised together but —yesterday— the dog bit the child and refused to let go despite two adults struggling to pull it off for fifteen minutes.

A dog should only have one chance. A dog that attacks a person should be euthanized. No second chances (unless the attack is provoked and the dog is defending itself, its pups, or another person).
