Where do you like to go to get a nice, tasty, hot burger?

It can be from a fast food joint or some fancy grill type restaraunt.
Or do you like to make your own?

i like burgers... a lot.

There's a place on the campus of the University of Kentucky called "Tolly Ho" and IMO, they are the best, greasiest cheeseburgers I have ever tasted....There's nothing like a Ho with cheese and some cheese tots and a choc shake to satisfy your hunger after the bars close

When I was down in Mexico for spring break, my family and I stopped in at an Outback Steakhouse. We don't have any here in Canada, that I'm aware of...at least in Saskatchewan; so, we wanted to have a day of something close to homestyle cooking.

I must say, I do believe that was the best burger I ever had in my life.

Closest thing I've found to the back yard grill:

Chili's does indeed make a great burger, but closer to home is the Harvest Restaurant. All organic, and they have THE BEST Buffalo burger with organic french fries...Hmmmm, now I am hungry!

There is NO hamburger better than those at Blimpie burgers a/k/a Krazy Jim's in ANN ARBOR. I've had a lot of burgers in my life and none elsewhere have even come close to theirs. (They also have a robust choice of kinds of rolls, kinds of cheese, toppings, etc.)

Actually, it's safe to say that more than half of all the hamburgers I've eaten in my lifetime have been eaten inside that little building.

There is sort of a trick to ordering at this place, though - shades of The Soup Nazi...

BLIMPIE BURGER...............an AA origional! It was shown on the Food Network's show Diners, Drive-In's, and Dives. Well, we were so privlidged to be customers at this infamous joint. I have to share because it's pretty funny and I want to blog about it so that I don't ever forget the experience.
Matt and I walk into this house-turned-into-restaurant and it smells soooo good. We're excited. We wait. and wait. and wait. For 45 minutes we wait. I decide to have a seat in line......bad idea. The cashier tells me "Stand Up! If this was a bank, would you sit down in line? No, I didn't think so. We have to stand and so do you!".......(delayed reaction by me)........Alrighty then! (Mind you, I'm the nicest dressed person in this joint and again, the name of the restaurant is BLIMPIE BURGER!!! And, as a matter of fact, I would sit down in line at the bank if I had been waiting there for 45 minutes!)
Some other privlidged customers walk into the restaurant and leave the door open. Another worker yells, "Shut the door. The door cannot be left opened. If you don't fit in here, wait outside." Wow. This place has some intense rules.
We get up in line to order and.......
THERE ARE RULES TO ORDERING!!!!!
1) First, the deep fryer order: french fries, fried veggies, etc.
2) Then, what size Blimpy: double, triple, quad, quint
3) Next, decide what kind of roll: plain, onion, kaiser, etc.
4) Any grilled items: onions, mushrooms, peppers, etc.
5) Just before the burger comes off the grill, you will be asked to pick what kind of cheese you prefer, if any. (This is the step where the lady at the grill made my burger and said "That looks nasty!")
6) After the burger comes off the grill, you will be asked what type of condiments you would like - please start with "wet" items like mayo, ketchup or mustard... and only say what you want and NOT what you don't want!

Oh and P.S. --If you get it wrong, you'll be yelled at and embarassed in front of everyone else and possibly have to go to the back of the line! (yes, that same 45 min. line)

So, there are some highlights of THE BLIMPIE BURGER experience. The kicker was at the end when the cashier called Matt a "naughty word" because he didn't handle paying correctly. (Cash only and do not remove your tray from the counter until it's paid for.)

All in all, the burger was excellent and I'd go back. Matt on the other hand was a little offended and might not go back for awhile. It was funny to be customers at a restaurant that prides itself on NO customer service, but still has tons of customers.

http://lindseywintch.blogspot.com/ it's in September 2008 blog somewhere...

There is a real dive close by called 'Ricks' They make the best burgers fries etc. I will go out of my way for their food.

There's a restaurant around where I live called Red Robin. They are known for two things, good burgers and booze.

But honestly, I'd choose to have a steak over a burger... cooked medium. Mmmmmm.

If I want a really good burger. I would just grill one on my George Foreman. If I don't feel like cooking, I would go to either Sonic or this place called Backyard. Backyard makes all their burgers fresh when I order. They flamebroil all fo their burgers and chicken. Delicious!

Joshua_Me, I just put that link in my "future travel" folder! (It sounds and looks yummy, and maybe we can both go there next time I'm in Sarasota, which intends to happen at some point)

And WYSIWIG, I was going to mention you in the "People you miss seeing on here..." thread, and there you are!! Cool!

^It's a date, darlin'.....

Count on it...

I'm sick of the Chains. Blech. Quality is down and prices are way, way up.

I used to like Fuddrucker's but the last two times I tried them (one in Thornton, CO and one in Lombard, IL) they were both awful. I was hoping it was just the franchisee but I was quite wrong. I don't think I'll be back.

I just noticed a 'Coming Soon' sign for Five Guys, I'll try.

Golden, Colorado-based Good Times is on an expansion jag, and they are about as good as it gets for fast food. Organic beef, too! A bit pricey but not bad.

Sonic for after the bar grease gut bombs works pretty good. Sober, not so much.

It seems as most every town has a great locally owned burger joint. Go local!

In NW Chicagoland, don't miss Hackney's (6 locations). Check out their Onion 'Rings'. Since 1939!

In Denver, check out City Grille. I was impressed.

If anyone happens to find themselves in Queenstown, New Zealand, they MUST try Fergburger. Backpackers rave about it, and for good reason: it's delicious!

The Solid Rock Cafe in Glasgow city centre. They do some beast food but the burgers are fuckin' incredible. Plus there's usualy metal playin' in the background :D

Until recently I was a vegetarian. But I've started eating the cheeseburgers at McDonald's from time to time. And I must say I am acquiring a taste for them.

^ Funny. If McD was all the meat there was, I would turn vegetarian. ;)

I'm still not sure what's in it and if it can be legally called 'meat'.

Well, that means I could still be a vegetarian and not have to give up those burgers!
