Bush declines Obama invite to Ground Zero

Which has what to do with the topic exactly?

I think Chris was responding to another forum poster's comment. So it's exactly on the topic, the discussion, and has a place on this forum.

What a bunch of horseshit. I'll repeat what I said earlier in this thread:

Sounds pretty much like you're so blinded by hate and ignorance that you can't ever admit that Bush could do anything right. Have fun with that. Go off and play and let the adults have a conversation.

Not any different than what I've heard many on the right do the past couple of days with Obama.

*Some* on the right have said that. Just like *some* on the left somehow believe that what Obama did deserves an investigation and possible criminal charges.

They're both wrong. Sort of like Lostlover's continuing nonsensical rants based on nothing more than his hate of the man.

He did that in the White House.

And for the BS about not making it political, since when did Ground Zero become political? How political is it for a democratic president to meet up with his GOP predecessor to meet the families of the victims.

If Obama wasn't on record inviting counter politicians to events only to use the event to roast the invited opposing opinion. Well then it might be different.

I think the plan is to lay a wreath, say a prayer and then meet with the families in private to answer any questions they may have about the operation that killed Bin Laden.

If that is the case then why Invite Bush or Clinton or anyone else. A wreath laying is a personal experience even when laid on behalf of a nation.

So now you're the designated spokeperson for the victims? And since when does the presence of protesters prevent a former president from doing the right thing? I remember Bush saying that he's glad people have the freedom of expression unlike in Saddam's right before a planned trip to London for a conference.

Tsk. Tsk. Excuses. Excuses.

Again Obama's previous behavior prevents accepting an offer at bipartisan empathy.

Class act huh? Does a "class act" preemptively invade a sovereign nation under false pretenses? Does a "class act" send over 5,000 American kids to be slaughtered in Iraq FOR NOTHING? Does a "class act" display an obvious reluctance to be seen with flag-draped coffins being returned to the U.S. (I know, he didn't have time to think about them.) Does a "class act" displace over 100,000 Iraqis (not to mention those killed) who did nothing to harm the U.S.?

This "class act" of which you speak should be locked up in The Hague awaiting trial for crimes against humanity in direct violation of the Geneva Convention along with Cheney, Rumsfeld and the other accomplices that made the U.S. appear to be the barbaric nation that it had been. The U.K. has already warned the "class act" that if he should come there, he will be arrested for the aforementioned crimes.

You make me want to puke.

If you think that what has been accomplished in Iraq; indeed in the middle east is insignificant and worthless then you are truly the most deluded individual i have ever encountered.

Not any different than what I've heard many on the right do the past couple of days with Obama.

it is true left or right there are plenty of both ilk that make honest discussion less a open expression and more a cut and paste regurgitation.

Since reprint is the order of the day. I will repost what I feel is the most accurate appraisal of why Bush declined Obama.

W knows he’ll never have to run for another election, and has wisely forgone an invitation from the sitting president:

Smart, too. President Obama has in the past been churlish to invited guests: He asked Congressman Paul Ryan to join him at a speech he gave at George Washington University last month, and then used the opportunity to publicly bash Ryan’s budget balancing proposals from the bully pulpit.

And it’s one thing for college students to take a victory lap around Ground Zero. Presidents – sitting or otherwise – are well advised to display a little more gravitas.

It’s a good thing, when standing in the winner’s circle, to act as though you belong there.

GWB is hated here - or was

and it was absent for a while as he has not been in the spotlight

now he does the right thing - or at least something that is consistent with his personality

and he does NOT attempt to take any spotlight from the current pres

and he's shit on again

and all the old shit comes back

most of which is just not true

and if you're unhappy with him because of his policies fine

but do u have to make it personal?

rhetorical btw

Bush and Laura reside in Preston Hollow, a really nice "Hamptons" kind of neighborhood in Dallas, within my home town.

Bush, since leaving office has been VERY low key., and the rare interviews that he's given local media support your assertions of his personality.

Bush, love him or hate him, really doesn't want to be in the spotlight anymore.

I respect that.

In fact I appreciate it! ..|

I've met him twice, and Bush43 is the type of guy that I'm sure I'd love going out on a fishing trip with, socializing with at a church picnic, or discussing sustainable agriculture since he's my neighbor (When he's down here on his Crawford Ranch) here in Central Texas, but not as an elected official; current or previous. ..|

rhetorical btw

I get that, and either you love the guy or you hate him.

It would depend upon how one might know him. ;)

"Bush, love him or hate him, really doesn't want to be in the spotlight anymore. "

yeah leave him alone if he don't want to be in the spotlight.
Maybe drill Cheney and others if they are still political.

Side note fellas

At JFK now waiting for flight West - Obama on TV I think in DC - scheduled to come to JFK for WTC visit shortly

Folks at JFK biz as usual - at least the travelers and worker bees - having Bfast now

Really cute guy across the way - t shirt fitted jeans - hmmmm

What was the topic?

Bush is a class act.

No reason to gloat about the death.

Just tell us what happened - no reason for a party at Ground Zero.

Ditto.

Obama makes Bush the scapegoat of all his incapacities for the last two and half years and at the last minute invites Bush to accompany him to NYC. Obama is stupid for asking. Obama=NO CLASS
