there are different degrees of low rise jeans. the super low rise may be a bit much in most social situations but normal cut jeans that the waist comes clear up to the navel i find even more objectionable. most of my jeans are low rise and they cover up more than enough without having the grandfatherly look of normal jeans.

As long as the trouser crotch is not hanging low, but bulge and crevice are very conspicuous, OK. Unfortunately most of those low rise jeans are too baggy at the strategic place, viz. the male crotch. It is an absolute requirement everything is conspicuous at crotch and crevice level.

You know guys, last night I wore those very same jeans to our local levi/leather bar and no one said they looked way too gay, too fem or that it was just too much. Actually they couldn't stop staring when I lifted up my t-shirt to show them.
