More performative and only harms the people who aren't actually making these bigoted legislation and decision.

Well either this does very little or if it does have an effect, it effects the economy of the areas and that in turn effects the residents of those communities more than the people making the decisions on these bills.

Will all those states reciprocate by banning travel to California on the basis that it's a hotbed of pinko-liberal wokeism?

That's a long-ass title...

They can do as they will. The reality is that California has the 10th largest economy in the whole fucking world and won't give a shit about what some back-water hick states think.

Check yourself because not everyone that lives in these states are back-water hicks, plenty of people in these States that don't condone legislation like this and are not for it. Just because a State itself is overwhelming red, does not mean everyone in the State is. And what a great economy when it has one of the largest homeless populations in America.

More people in those states need to push to get those politicians out of office and replace them with progressives. Homeless issues are not being ignored in California. Many billions of dollars are in CA are going to help the homeless through voter approved bonds and increases in sales tax. I know I'm constantly putting pressure on my city council members to build a shelter and get more housing for them. I was at a city council meeting last week doing just that until 11:30pm with many other people doing the same thing.

I mean this happens, I can't imagine people aren't doing things like this. I personally live in a Blue area in FL, but this kind of thing takes time and doesn't happen in day. And this is outside of the conversation when voter suppression happens, how difficult is is for a good portion people to vote because it is on a working day, how voting can be hard for disabled people in many places, voting rights being threatened and plenty of other issues.

I am not saying CA is not doing anything about it, but some one stating how good of an economy CA has doesn't really mean that much when the state itself has a huge homelessness problem. Apparently a booming economy that can't seem to help poverty stricken people living on the street.

Also saying these States are "back water hick states" is classist and does not represent any of these States as a whole and isn't a good reason to threaten these States economies when if this does effect anything it effects the people who aren't a part of the problem. The people that would be effected by this kind of move aren't the ones writing or proposing the legislation.

In regards to voter suppression consider supporting this:

yeah well there is a lot of variations in those numbers - California has the largest economy of all states but is by far not even close to the wealthiest - they BARELY make the top 10 - of course my Maryland is the wealthiest state and per capita Maryland also has the most millionaires

https://moneyinc.com/20-richest-states-usa/#:~:text=The%2020%20Richest%20States%20in%20the%20USA.%201,in%20the%20country%20with%208%2C958%2C013%20...%20More%20items

and while Florida doesn't even make the top 20 in wealthiest states it has the 3rd largest economy of all states

https://www.visualcapitalist.com/animation-the-20-largest-state-economies-by-gdp-in-the-last-50-years/#:~:text=The%20Largest%20State%20Economies%20by%20GDP%20Today%20,%20%20100%25%20%207%20more%20rows%20

what all those numbers really mean is basically population - California has more people so more money is being spent - it doesn't mean they are wealthy or influential - it just means more people have to pay the rent and buy groceries...

Where do the homeless people in California come from? Are they arriving from other States, some of those on the list, perhaps, or is something going on in California that is causing their own people/citizens to become homeless?

You’re not allowed to say homeless any more. It’s unhoused now. Home is where the heart is and all that.

Maybe they all came to CA with dreams of becoming famous but it all went wrong.

Good climate to be homeless. I mean unhoused. Fuck it: VAGRANTS.

I'm sure that California's [too expensive] gay communities seem very appealing, very alluring, to young people who had the misfortune of being born and raised in many of the States listed above, as well.

In that regard, it would behoove California to pressure other States to clean up their shit before California is overrun with other State's refugees. An underlying reason for the new travel expense rules, perhaps?

Myth #1: California’s homeless are from somewhere else -- and moved here for the mild weather and social services.

Reality: Experts say this is one of the most common and inaccurate assumptions about homeless Californians.

Martin cited a study from May 2018 by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, which found 75 percent of the people on the street in Los Angeles County had a home in that same county before they lost it. It also showed that 65 percent of the unsheltered homeless had lived in that county for at least 20 years. Only 13 percent were from out of state.
