Camila Cabello

Re: What do you think about new Cinderella with Camila Cabelo?

The Cinderella in this production strikes me as is more "hard" than "sweet." She's "clever," in the way that an "influencer" is. But not sweet in the way it was defined 60 years (or more) ago. I don't see much genuine vulnerability in the character. She sings the part, but doesn't put across the softer emotions associated with Cinderella. And her whole "you're-gonna-know-my-name" is just a little hard-hearted Hannah. Tender she is not. She's got moxie, for sure. Charming's not much different.

As that fits a good deal of current culture, go-for-it mentality, the movie will appeal to those who like that approach. If you're older, you might prefer the Cinderella of Rodgers and Hammerstein 1965 production, where she was kind and soft-hearted. There's far less of that in this production. Hard and edgy. No innocence whatsoever.
And Bill Porter as the Fairy Godmother? Nah.

All I can say is: not my cup of tea.
