Jonathon,

I read your article with some interest and would like to inset a few personal experiences on the discussion.

I truly believe that some people are born "gay" while there are others who are not and due to life experiences end up becoming "gay". Let me elaborate a bit. I was a competitive figure skater. The stereotype in figure skating is that all men who figure skate are gay. While a high number are, figure skating is not what makes a person "gay" but many men who are gay will succeed in the sport because it demands a certain amount of artistry and interpretation that many younger straight boys immediately shy away from in their youth as they feel it de-masculanizes them. (Silly but the truth) I do know of more than one skater who was truly and completely striaght in the sport but ended up gay. You could make the argument that they were all born gay but I disagree. In one particular case, someone I skated with for years moved to the lower mainland to train in the same club as the former Canadian champion, Emanuel Sandu. If you know who he is, he is very comfortable in his homosexuality. This young man did not "become" gay until he became immersed in the culture once he came down here. Prior to that, he was well and truly straight. Does that make him a "bad person" no....but I do believe that sometimes the argument is more complex than black and white "truths" that all sides seem to champion.

There is another instance that comes to mind though. There was a young man who grew up across the across the street from me and happened to be my sister's best friend. By the time he was 4 if you honestly assessed him you could tell that he was gay. He was born that way.

It's from the National Post. Can't say I'm surprised that they would run that.

I think wrestling makes you gay. I can't tell you how many straight guys I've made it with it eventually turned out were wrestlers in high school. In fact now as soon as I here someone say they wrestled in school I make it a point to get them alone and drunk. Thank you, high school wrestling programs!!

And just so nobody freaks out, I'm getting these guys when they're 18+, they wrestled in high school, they are not currently high school wrestlers. Just to be clear.

And yes Jasun, Zack wrestled in high school ;)

The stupidest fucking thing I've read this year.

Really.

"No, honey, I'm straight."

Rocco Siffredi, the Italian porn stud who banged 8,000 chicks onscreen, was a skilled cook who could make elaborate dishes, and he was a terrific dancer. And yet, he turned out to be the most heterosexual man ever. Riddle me that...
