just curious to hear some opinions on this.

about some years ago, two or three, i read parts of this book titled fish by tj english. it was an autobio of his life in the prison system and it talks about a first hand experience on prison rape, abuse and all the reasons why you should be a law abiding citizen. i think he spends 20 something years in prison where he eventually falls in love with a younger inmate who just comes in and has a relationship with him. eventually he served out his sentence or got paroled and went back to his life. i guess he realized that he was gay and got himself a boyfriend who he has been with for a long time.

but with that said, is it possible for someone who is 17 or younger, the age he was locked up, to end up becoming gay in prison if they sent a long time in there since they pretty much become programmed to be that. what are your thoughts about homosexual activity behind bars?

I'll just guess that 60 to 80% of people have at least some bisexual potential that never goes anywhere unless they are in the right circumstances.

Absolutely.

There's no stopping the animal that is human. Sex is going to happen, whether or not it's healthy or enjoyable is going to be up for debate and contingent on the individuals involved. But pluggin' up that ass could open up a mind, definitely. :)

I'm gonna go with no because I believe in more of a spectrum when it comes to sexuality. Having sex with a dude because that's all you have and being attracted to guys are two different things.

I don't think it can turn them into gay,
but it will at the very least open their eyes to new expriances, that they could explor later if they wish

Well, certainly two men could have sex, because they have needs, but I don't think it "makes" someone gay. Perhaps this man was already gay and it took this event to make him realize it or accept it.

If i was in a jail cell with a woman long enough, I would have sex with her, but in NO way would I be straight. Just needing to bust a nut. I think thats how it goes with straight men in prison having sex with another man.

You do not turn, you are.

Wanting to have sex with a man because the man is your only option, is a cop out. And btw, rape does not require attraction; it's an attack.

I don't think it would "turn" anyone, it just makes them realise what they themselves were already like.

It can, and it's not uncommon. But it's usually temporary, lasting only as long as the prison sentence. Once released from prison, they most-often revert to their previous heterosexual behaviour.

(I studied this in university psychology.)

I'm sure it can open up some guys eyes to their true sexuality, which may not have happened had they not been in that situation.

But I don't think it would make guys who are sexually interested in women change to being sexually interested in men. Maybe a blowjob or handjob here and there with eyes shut while thinking of boobs, which I don't think counts!!

Sex is a basic human need. Plain and simple. I don't know if it will turn someone gay; I do know that as time goes on, one may become more flexible on how that need is met.

I understand men have sex with other men while they are incarcerated. They return to their heterosexual life when they are released. I don't consider these men to be gay since gayness comes from within a person. Therefore, my answer is "no, prison can't turn a person gay."

No, you thilly perthon...COCKHOLM SYNDROME.

Yes, I think, but RARELY!!!

Sort of the reverse of Exodus International and other "ex-gay" ministries, which I also think can *RARELY* turn somebody straight.

As we're talking about human beings, there are exceptions to every rule.

No, I don't think it can turn a straight person gay.
Some men might 'make do' while they're in there but it will only be for the physical release.
