Apparently, if I don't login from a specific computer for more than a month, Facebook doesn't recognize the computer, and they require me to answer security questions to use my account. Once I had to jump through impossible hurdles by correctly identifying 5 of 7 friend photos (taken from galleries), and I managed to survive it somehow. Otherwise I would (or could) have completely lost my account.

I would rather not be on Facebook AT ALL, PERIOD, but it became necessary to keep in touch with some.

I am trying to change my security method - where, instead of the horrifying possibility that I'll be forever blocked because I cannot identify 5 of 7 faces (often belonging to people using different names than I'm accustomed to here in JUB), I can be required to answer a security question or two, or give my birthday, etc.

However, I cannot find ANY of these on facebook:

1. Any information of any kind, on how to CONTACT Facebook
2. Any link to any page which allows me to change account verification methods
3. A SITE MAP for Facebook.

I just spent 70 minutes looking all over the place trying to find any trace of any three of these. There is even a description of changing verification methods, suggesting that I click on a [NONEXISTENT!!!!!!] link to Change Account Serurity Verification method (or something like that), and it mentions a menu that's supposed to be accessible from every FB page but is nowhere to be found, etc.

Can anybody help? I don't want to suddenly be locked out of the account forever, with no possible way of contacting anybody.

I asked in here about nineteen months ago, but got no answer of any kind - but it wasn't entirely on topic, it was in a thread about other aspects of Facebook.

Thank you for any guide on this, guys.

At the top of the page you will see your name, Home and an attow. Click on that arrow and go to acct or privacy settings. In there you will be able to reset things.

Thank you gyys...nothing works SO FAR. I still don't see any way to change the option of WHAT HOOPS I HAVE TO JUMP THROUGH if suspicious activity is found (like if I login from Canada).

I want to be sure that I will NEVER BE REQUIRED TO IDENTIFY FACES. (I only "survived" that before because it was when I didn't have very many FB friends.) That would entirely screw me for sure. But I can't find anywhere to get to the options, though the options supposedly exist. Supposedly I can CHOOSE if I want to be asked to recognize faces, give my birthday, or give an answer to a security question (like "Who is your favorite author?"), but I can't find any way to access those options.

That's my main thing, I just never want to be told I have to do that again, but I can't even find a way to contact anybody anywhere at Facebook either, who could at least send me a tutorial to find the proper link or something.

a bit of advice from an old man.

Facebook is not private, it is public. So do not ever put any information it that you do not want the whole world to know. Do not add photos except one small face pic of yourself unless you want the world to know where you have been.
do not allow any apps to take or use any of you info. in fact block every single app that offers itself to you.

Go in your profile / account settings and take all possible passwords off everything so that everyone can see everything.
Then take all the info out so there is nothing to see.
Dont ever say anything you do not want the whole world to know.

This doesn't answer your question directly, but what they say might be true. I found this on a page with 89 posts complaining about the same thing. I read them in case there was a more direct answer to your question.

I got the method to pass this security check!

First of all open your account as usual and when you reach the stage to identify the photos of your friends (tagged), do the following procedure.

Save all tagged pictures along with the names of your friends mention one by one by answering any option (which will usually be wrong at first) at any place in your computer like Microsoft WORD.

When you have finished, log in again after one hour. You are again asked to identify the photos of your friends but now it repeats some pictures (that you have saved in your computer along-with names) but not the names( only correct answer will repeat). Match the same answer in both photos which will be the correct answer.

Do this procedure for 4 or 5 times and you will get all the tagged pictures with correct answer.

NOTE: Facebook repeats photos but not all the names but only the correct name.

Thanks to the above posts. Deandbn I pretty much do these things, my posts are fairly generic where they don't give a lot of information about me. I don't make upcoming trips all that public, etc. I avoid almost all apps that Facebook asks me for, even though it sometimes makes Facebook friends angry that I'm not giving them hearts back, etc.

EDMichaels, that sounds like a great idea - so, the pictures repeat?? Usually, though, I'm not on a "strange computer" long enough to log in hourly (or thereabouts) 3 or 4 times. I'll follow your link, I'm very happy to see that some others are complaining.

Facebook pages claim that they can change from giving you that, to other verification options...but they don't give any links. It will be great if that thread you linked, gives me an answer.

Shit. No answers at all in that whole thread...just a bunch of complaints from other people who have forever lost their facebook accounts because of their goddam stupid bullishit verification process.

Is that flying saucer picture Bill Miller, Frances Houghton, Preston R., or who???

What a crock. Basically I am banned from ever going to my facebook account whenever I travel anywhere, period, so that hopefully I'll avoid this crap.
