it's used so much i literally think i've forgotten what the actual meaning of the word is, literally ](*,)
 
I sure hope we can figuratively redefine the meaning of literally, seriously!
 
As noted, it is actually held to have two meanings.

It can be argued that it literally means what it says...that according to Merriam Webster, it means 'figuratively'.

Or does it really mean something that is actually true?

I literally can't decide.
 
If we are on a quest to improve our English, then: "I surely hope we can..." is the correct form.
