  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Can you be trans-racial?

Altho now I'm interested, exactly what and how is not calling someone a bitch whitewashing?

No, don't tell me, there's a magic 8 ball around here that can give a more coherent answer than you can.

I'm not black, you idiot.
You are even a bigger idiot thank you for clarifying you are not black. Your comments are irrelevant since you are an outsider to the black race I will not respond to a loser like you anymore. Tired of non blacks talking about shit they do not understand.

Then give the explanation of such whitewashing to Taralen.

I'll wait, mr use racism as an excuse to insult women.

By the by, Oreo is indeed a racist term. And I'm sure you know that.

Doesn't that make your seethingly misogynistic comments in most topics irrelevant since you are a male?

Hey now, get in line! I'm still waiting how saying there's an ice cubes chance in hell she can be considered black is encouraging Dolezal.

Rachel Dolezal, professional pretend black lady extraordinaire, has a novel rationale for how she obtained her supposed blackness. She got it, she says, from her kids.

“I have really gone there with the experience, in terms of being the mother of two black sons, and really owning what it means to experience and live blackness,” she told MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry. Dolezal and her ex husband have a son, Franklin, and she has legal guardianship over her adopted brother, Izaiah.

On the Today show, she told Matt Lauer, “I’ve actually had to go there with the experience … the point at which that really solidified was when I got full custody of Izaiah, and he said, ‘You’re my real mom.’ He’s in high school, and for that to be something that is plausible, I certainly can’t be seen as white and be Izaiah’s mom."

As the writer of the article states: "THAT ISN'T HOW THIS WORKS!"

Makes me wonder what she thought of her siblings and her mother. Five bucks says at least half the reason she dumped her parents was because she didn't want to put in the messy reality work that having a mixed family often brings when you're seen in public. Not the only white woman to have done something similar but the last one was a straight 'lesbian radical feminist separatist' expat from the quiverful movement. Went by the name of Heart, 'ran for president', basically an all around noxious woman. You wanna see a train wreck of mental masturbation, google her. Couldn't get her to shut up for love or money, and good god did everyone and their mailman try.

Come to think of it, her and some of her pals are on encyclopedia dramatica, although some of the weirder shit hasn't been accessible for years. Least she got kicked off Wikipedia.

Makes me wonder what she thought of her siblings and her mother.

Her parents? How's this:

Rachel Dolezal, however, questioned whether Ruthanne and Larry Dolezal really were her parents.

"I haven't had a DNA test. There's been no biological proof that Larry and Ruthanne are my biological parents," she told NBC News' Savannah Guthrie, who pointed to a birth certificate listing Larry and Ruthanne Dolezal as her parents.

And that stuff about using brown crayons instead of peach crayons for colouring?

Dolezal, who was born to a white family, told NBC News on Tuesday in a series of interviews that she identifies as black and from around the age of 5 was "drawing self-portraits with the brown crayon instead of the peach crayon and black curly hair."

Her mother, Ruthanne Dolezal, directly disputed that account in an interview with NBC affiliate KHQ.

"That didn't happen," said Ruthanne Dolezal, who is now estranged from her daughter. "It's disappointing to see that Rachel is still making false statements... I was hoping to see a change."

Oh, I know she lied about the drawing, ect, she had to have, seeing as she identified herself as white in many and varied places long before she tried revisionist history. What I mean is, I wonder what she's telling herself that her parents did so she feels justified in all those other lies she's been telling herself. Convoluted, I know, but from past experience there's generally several somethings and it's a train wreck. I tend to poke around train wrecks to see what I've missed. Horrible quality in an activist since it causes burnout but there's a gremlin on my shoulder demanding I tally general experience for future reference.

That and I'm nosy.

Forgot to add for NYC downtown up there that most people with interracial siblings don't go on to lie and develop elaborate backstories about their race or ethnicity. Pretending that's what occurs is intellectually dishonest. If complicated family relationships were what caused people to ask their brother to lie for them then I think we'd have noticed the mixed family where some of them are liars and lo, they keep getting caught (and we would notice because both a mixed family and lieing about race/ethnicity are generally easily check able, and if one caused the other then there'd be a hell of a lot more people like the op's story.). Kindly note that it generally, ha, doesn't occur.

Thanks for all the info--my cousin is trans and like most families --my family had a debate on why and how---it's all easier for you to grasp then the average person with no experience. This trans-racial lady is clearly has some issues. Her son however seems like a decent kid.

Though I half suspect a third of her deciding on blackness was that she noticed her parents issues with appropriation and/or an assumed or shown lack of cultural and racial sensitivity no matter how hard they tried (which usually isn't an either/or process) and then she got older after having absorbed those do unto others lessons, went to college and thought "I'm having a difficult time, I'm a decent person, this just won't do." and decided that meant her one time difficulty in a college that was supposed to be an educational haven for avoiding casual and willful racism got a white person smack dab in the middle of it. So, she's getting difficulties, understandably so, so then she decides that this must be what daily racism means (when no, no it doesn't) and viola, she decides her siblings childhoods were absolute shit and someone who claimed to be black was better than someone who is actually white.

The other two thirds, fuck only knows.

I used to want to be a therapist specializing in minority, tho not racial, god no, issues. Then sanity prevailed.

Michael Jackson...

Yeah, he's a classic example. ..|

- - - Updated - - -

She has deliberately passed herself off as mixed race for her own ends
She has lied about her father being black to ingratiate herself with the 'downtrodden black community'
She has regular tanning sessions to darken her skin and has her naturally blond hair treated to make it look like Afro American corkscrews
The woman is a complete disgrace to herself and does her adopted community no favours at all

on points! ..|

People often will claim whatever they think will make them more approachable, from looks and behavior, which is relatively common (the old saw about 'if you have to name yourself such then you probably aren't' hot, rich, dominant, whatever, to the much rarer claiming of minority status. Probably because minority status largely gets you nothing but grief.
like Pink, Gaga, or call me..Marilyn Monroe..;)

Doesn't just happen with race, either. There was one idiot I used to live with who asked to be called they instead of he, and I quote, 'because I don't want to receive cis privilege'. Tho I might've missed a word in there. None of us had the heart to tell him that isn't how privilege works. He wasn't a bad guy, just really naive. You don't lose it that way, particularly by pretending it doesn't exist.

Though he did have one hell of a stick up his ass about vegan being righteous, and I shan't touch on the ableism. Other than those things, nice enough.

And Ben, it isn't usually self loathing that makes people claim minority status. Usually it's either mental issues, greed or both.
So, this Rachel Dolezal woman actually a similar resurrection case of Elizabeth Warren? Interesting..I read that they both masquerade false race for employment purpose benefit.

~Whatever, Im glad we're in the same page ^^

Yes, but that was the context we were discussing. And I do think it's incredibly more common for people to claim they're related to Pocahontas than to falsely claim they're gay or trans or bi.

And Sacagawea too!! :=D:

Wait..what's your point? :?

I believe you can, but I know I'm in the minority along with many other topics and stigmas.

She to my knowledge grew up with black siblings and a somewhat black culture.

I take for example a black child that was adopted by a conservative white religious family. This happens a lot, and many white people are adopting black children more than black families. I can't speak for experience, both my parents are black.

Anyways, I would say that 95% of the time, the white family does not appreciate the black culture, and as an adult, the black child that was adopted begins to feel ashamed that they were not raised by a black family, or in a black household to where their cultures and values were experienced. So in a way, they were pretty much white, in a black body.

So back to Rachel Dolenzal situation, I would say that she is transracial. She seems to want nothing to do with her biological parents. She has done way more than what black or white people have done for civil rights. She married a black man, and has biracial children. So I would say she truly believes she's black.
As lifestyle wise--- yep, your words make sense to me.
and I'm glad you're agree that she still need to behave this way:
I do however say that she needs to probably not identity as black or white. Just cultural.

I am Wesley Snipes and Samuel L. Jackson complexion, but there have been times to where I wanted to bleach my skin and be white, and die my hair blond. But I realized, no God made me this way for a reason. Even though I'm not religious per say, I feel if someone else is unhappy with their body, who am I to judge.
Nooooooo....don't say that :( What about black superstar role models? Will Smith? You like Superhero Will Smith? ^^ or Denzel Washington?
